History

Personal History Born on February 9th, 2210, in Warren, Ohio, Caelin Marie Stewart entered the world alongside her fraternal twin sister, Rebecca Ann Stewart. The two shared a remarkable physical similarity, a common trait in their family line. However, a distinctive, if subtle, difference marked Rebecca: a series of dark, serpentine birthmarks that traced a path along the side of her body, extending from her hairline down to her ankle.

The circumstances of their conception were rather unconventional. They were the product of a brief, intense encounter during their mother's, Stephanie Lee Stewart's, short sojourn on the planet Vulcan. The twins' biological father was a Trill, a joined individual named Jenha Maz who, in his brief interaction with Stephanie, simply introduced himself as "Jen." The full details of his Trill symbiont and history remained a mystery to Stephanie. For her part, Stephanie Lee Stewart chose to raise her daughters independently, remaining unmarried and fully dedicated to them until they reached their teenage years.

Caelin's early life and school years were characterized by consistent, if not extraordinary, academic performance. She was a disciplined and conscientious student, achieving solid 'B' grades across the majority of her courses. While not a star pupil, her steady work ethic and practical approach to learning laid the groundwork for her future specialization.

Following her graduation from high school, Caelin made a significant move to Mars to begin her professional training at the esteemed Starfleet Technical Services Academy. It was here, away from the familiar confines of Earth, that her true aptitude began to shine. She quickly excelled in the Academy's intensive curriculum, demonstrating a sharp, intuitive understanding of complex systems, particularly in the fields of engineering and repair. She proved to have a natural talent for diagnosing mechanical failures and implementing innovative solutions, consistently ranking among the top students in the practical workshops. Her dedication saw her complete her rigorous training in a two-year period, establishing her as a highly competent Starfleet Technician.

Her first assignment post-Academy was aboard the USS Jameson, an Einstein-class starship. On the Jameson, she was placed under the mentorship of the Chief Service Officer, Lieutenant Commander Desmond Tanha. Tanha, a veteran officer known for his exacting standards and vast operational knowledge, became a crucial figure in Caelin's development. She worked closely with him, absorbing his encyclopedic knowledge of ship maintenance, advanced propulsion systems, and warp field mechanics. Over the course of her service, her technical expertise expanded exponentially.

However, the mentorship was not without its friction. Caelin, with her strong convictions regarding system efficiency and preventative maintenance, often found herself at odds with Tanha’s more traditional, and at times, politically influenced, prioritization of tasks. While she always adhered strictly to the chain of command and followed his direct orders, Caelin was not shy about voicing her professional concerns. She made sure her opinions and well-reasoned technical arguments were known, albeit selectively, to a trusted circle of colleagues and fellow junior officers who valued her insight.

This period of intense training and operational service was violently interrupted. Amidst a catastrophic and highly organized riot that swept through the USS Jameson, a calculated attempt to seize control of the vessel by a rogue element, Caelin found herself on the engineering deck, desperately trying to secure a vital conduit. A rioter, armed with a makeshift but formidable weapon, lunged toward her. In the split second before the blow would have landed, the world around Caelin dissolved. One moment she was bracing for impact on the metallic deck of a starship under siege; the next, she found herself inexplicably standing in the middle of a vast, tranquil field of what appeared to be genetically modified corn stalks, bathed in a strange, non-stellar light. The terrifying chaos of the Jameson was instantly replaced by an unnerving, serene silence.

Not only had she found herself struck out of time but also in a part of the galaxy she had never been before. When discovered by Starfleet, it was explained to her that the USS Jameson had entered into an unknown sector and all the crew had vanished, only to reappear through different times in history since its disappearance. With very little knowledge of the present time, she set about educating herself with technological advancements.
