Physical Description		Teela is typical for her species. She is curvy and well-muscled for a tree-dwelling species, but not overly so. She has a physique of what Terran’s used to call a ‘fitness model’. She has a prehensile tail with a point, which she uses often when working to press buttons, hold or grab tools for repair work. She has pointed ears that are just slightly longer than Vulcan's ear but point back instead of the front.

General Overview		Teela is a cheerful, bubbly sort, and makes friends very easily. She is very intelligent but naïve on some things, most other cultures. She’s fascinated by other cultures’ foods, drinks, and media. She appears to be supernaturally lucky.

History

Personal History

Teela came form a forested/jungle planet called Akteva. Akteva is the third planet from their sun, one of two habitable planets in the system. Coming from a typically large family, she was always around others. When she saw her first human, she was fascinated at the mostly hairless, walking apes with funny little ears and no tails. She started reading their literature and history. She eventually decided to join Starfleet as an NCO (E-1), since it was quicker than going to the academy. She proved a capable Engineer’s Mate and received a promotion quickly to E-5. She has always had a green thumb and knew how to get plants to grow and has a knack for fixing computers as well. This knack led her to a posting on the USS Shepherd. Eventually, she got a posting to the USS Tomcat as a Computer Systems Specialist in Engineering, wherein in 2392 she was granted a Field Commission to Ensign, this became one of the happiest days of her life.

Species facts: height typically 5'4" to 6'2" for females, 5'8" to 6'4" for males; skin found in purple, pink, blue and similar shades, eyes in blue, green, purple, pink, yellow. Average strength and grip strength is higher than human due to being a historical tree-dwelling species, and their feet have slightly longer toes to help climb, along with their prehensile tails, though they are not often good swimmers. Families are often large and practice polygyny like Earth primates, due to evolutionary pressures from large carnivores on the planet on the male population. As a result of the megafauna of their planet, Aktevans are highly situationally aware to the point of appearing very lucky to other species and can be very insightful. There are over 4500 languages on their planet, with Aktevan Standard looking like Germanic runes. Diet is largely vegetarian but includes game meat, the hunting of which is considered a rite of passage for young men and women.

Cities have organic-looking structures with green spaces up the sides and are quite strongly constructed. Their world has a lot of megafaunas requiring them to build in trees for safety before they developed technology and widespread farming in certain areas of the planet. Their history records several myths that reflect worldwide disasters that actually happened in the geological record, with varying levels of technology dating back to about 11000 bc. They developed industrial technology about the 14th century, computers about the end of the 16th, early space flight in the late 18th. Lunar colonies by the mid 19th were founded, but breaking the light speed barrier took until the late 20th going by the Terran Calendar. They established interstellar relations with Vulcans in 2012, though Vulcans often find them frustrating.

Climate: on average slightly warmer than the earth, 2.5% CO2, 25% O2; large trees are commonly used for dwellings. There are 8 continents and many islands, with more vulcanism than Earth, which has resulted in several "years without summers" on their planet's history.
