History
Personal History | Anlon was born in a commune of the Heart Clan in the farmland on Rigel IV’s northern continent. He was the fourth of what ended up being eight siblings, plus countless cousins (both biological and not) across the commune. Heart Clan’s crops were bountiful every year, and so Anlon and his family were never wanting for food. During the Dominion War, the young man accompanied his parents to the nearest spaceport, and traveling to the city of Ancient Grace on neighbouring Rigel V (a planet with its own native population, the Jelna-Rigelians, and also a sizeable population of Zami; Ancient Grace being the largest Zami settlement in the system). The young man loved his trips to space and onto the next planet over. Rigel was untouched during the war, but Starfleet Officers, including Marines, transited through the system for repair and resupply; the exported Heart Clan food often went to them. They often stopped at Rigel IV and the Heart Clan commune welcomed visiting Starfleet personnel who visited for shore leave. The children would listen to stories, and urged their families to continue inviting Starfleeters on shore leave to visit even after the war. As he grew older, Anlon didn’t take well to farm life, so at age 8 he took an apprenticeship with the patrol squad, the commune’s equivalent to a constabulary or security force. They were responsible for law enforcement (though crime rates in the commune were shockingly low) but also kept predators away. When adulthood came, his love of space and the adventures he heard from the visiting Starfleet personnel pulled him away from the patrol squad. With his family’s blessing, he left Rigel IV and enlisted in the Starfleet Marine Corps. Traveling to Earth for basic training was the first time he’d left the Rigel System, and so he was overwhelmed by all the new sights and sounds. But eventually he found his place, with the help of his comrades-in-arms, many of whom had never met a Vulcanoid who wasn’t Vulcan. He apprenticed aboard the Iwo-Jima class USS Vimy, where he became a very skilled Rifle but also learned that his time with the patrol squad made him quite an adept sharpshooter. In 2390, he was assigned with Charlie Squad aboard USS Stafford, a Nebula-class Strike Cruiser variant. He spent five years with Charlie Squad, mostly as one of three hundred standard Marines, but occasionally making use of his sharpshooter skills. In early 2395 he was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the Akira-class USS Tomcat, to serve in their Marine unit. Species Info: The Zami are one of three species (along with the Jelna and the Chelon) that go by the name “Rigelian”. Their ancestors were among the Sundered, those who rejected the teachings of Surak and left Vulcan millennia ago. While most of the generational ships ultimately landed on Romulus, some broke off early and settled elsewhere, developing their own Vulcanoid cultures. The Zami landed on Rigel IV and built a civilization at peace with its environment. They also made contact with the people of Rigel III (the Chelon) and Rigel V (the Jelna), both welcoming them with open arms. All three Rigelian species now populate all the inhabited worlds of the Rigel System, with the Zami filling the rural places across the system, growing food and living in harmony with nature. The largest Zami city is Ancient Grace, on the sister-world Rigel V. There are no cities which exceed populations of 500,000 on Rigel IV. |
