Unexpected Transfer

MCPO Alexi Michelle sighed in relief as the crowded transport docked at Starbase 51. It wasn't that she didn't like people in general, she just did not appreciate being stuffed in a ship with no space to even stretch out. She had been told of her transfer and given only two hours to pack her gear. In addition to a notice of promotion to Master Chief Petty Officer, this had come as a surprise.

Had she been given more notice she was certain she would have at least had a nice send-off, but as it was, she barely had time to get her gear packed and obtain her new rank insignia. Be that as it may, now she was on her way and had planned on using the time she had to look at the orders more in-depth. But that had not been possible in the cramped shuttle. Most of the others on the shuttle were officer ranks and she discovered that some of them, who were newly commissioned officers had already seemed to let it go to their heads. Alexi mused to herself that they would be getting a rude awakening when they reached their final destinations.

Stepping off the shuttle she retrieved her rucksack and checked to see where she needed to go. Apparently, she was to report somewhere on the base first before she would get her next set of travel orders. While she thought it was a bit of overkill, she could also understand with everything going on in the quadrant it was logical to put certain safeguards in place. She still did not know exactly what ship she was being assigned to. Her orders stipulated she would be informed during her meeting here at the station.

Approaching the queue to the station she paused and stepped to the side to reread her orders now that she could actually read them without having the PADD knocked around. She was to report to the Security offices. She chuckled to herself, as she rejoined the queue and was directed by the transfer officer as to which direction she was to go.
