"Assistant Chief Engineer's Personal Log, stardate...not sure in this alternate universe," she began.
Moments before, Nicci got out from the engineering console, after the captain took to her ready room, and tentatively took the centre seat. She was unsure of herself, as unsure as she was still in her own skin, looking in the mirror every morning. But as the minutes passed, she was growing more comfortable in the chair. Maybe someday, but for now, she was glad she was an engineer. She liked tinkering, fixing things. If she couldn't fix her own genetics to get back her old body, she could at least create some semblance of order by fixing her ship, she felt.
"We're on the way to a planet called New Xindus," she continued, "while under the cloak. The device itself is essentially jury-rigged into the ship to help us stay undetected in this hostile universe. That way we can avoid any unnecessary conflicts while trying to get out of this reality and back to our own."
She sighed, thinking through the implications, "that means there's another Captain Somers...another Lt Dodd...another me. I wonder if this me was captured by the Orions? Did...she...go through what I did?"
"What of the human race in this reality?" she asked.
"Questions for another day," she said, finally. "As of now, engineering is working on getting our final repairs done. Weapons should be at full strength within the hour, and shields are just reported fully functional even under the cloak, if necessary. I'd never recommend, it due to the power drain, but if we need atmospheric manoeuvres, we could do it."
"I anticipate a quiet ride to New Xindus, and hopefully a successful return home," she said. "End log."
