Location: Earth/Various
Timeline: Weeks prior to Epilogue/Aftermath Post

Lieutenant Commander Paul Sharpe was with his kids at his wife's place along with his inlaws when their butler answered the knocking door all looked up as they heard voices, then following the butler came a Starfleet Admiral, Paul simply raised an eyebrow, the Admiral was troubled "what is it Admiral...?" he asked.

"Sorry I am Admiral Sendeau, I command External Operations of Speciality Ships and bases and I am here about the Tomcat" he began.

Paul inhaled involuntarily his wife was in temporary command and he was worried something happened to her, Sendeau must have seen this "Your wife is fine as is most of the crew" he added and Paul visibly relaxed.

"What do you need from me Admiral Sendeau?" Sharpe asked puzzled as he held his daughter who looked at the Admiral and leaned forward arms outstretched, Paul took some pleasure in how uncomfortable the Admiral got but with a nod from Paul the Admiral took her, he studied the four-year-old up close she was definitely her mother's daughter down to the unusual vibrant red hair, she was playing with his Commbadge. Sandeau had grandchildren of his own so he adapted quickly to the situation.

"She likes you Admiral" Paul said, his son remained at his father's side, and the boy followed his father at that age "So what does Starfleet want?" he asked.

playfully teasing the little girl before responding "The USS Tomcat has taken some serious damage in its recent mission, Starfleet has approved a small structure redesign and some upgrades to the ship, we have seen some of the ideas you had planned for the Poseidon but due to the age of the ship could not be done, like the ship-wide holo-emitters like the Prometheus Class has and that holographic backup power idea you got up and running for three mins before you had to close it down. Well those and weapons upgrades have been authorised and as the Akira Class was made to be modular and easily upgradeable, our engineers have gone over said idea and found that some of your upgrades are compatible with the Akira Class" he said.

Looking puzzled "The Akira is not modable Sir!" Sharpe responded.

"I know, it was never meant to be, but somehow it is, as in it is easier to upgrade than a 23rd Century ship is, so if you are willing we would like to give you a short-term assignment..." he paused as he noticed the little girl had fallen asleep in his arms.

Jennifer Somers who was there smiled and took the little girl off him the little boy interested in what was happening was fighting to stay awake. Jennifer excused herself and grabbed the little boy "It is time for their noon nap" she said, the Admiral nodded and watched her leave the room.

Paul gave this a serious thought "I would like to take my kids to see their mother on Starbase 51, so how am I to get there?" Paul asked.

Admiral Sendeau spoke without pause "The USS Themistocles NCC 698741 is a Sovereign-class ship, it will be permanently stationed at Starbase 51, you will take charge of it on its journey to the Starbase, as for construction and repair of the Tomcat, we now have those ExoCom drones which will speed things up" he said.

"Give me a day to get my kids ready and I will report to the ship, any tips on command Admiral?" He asked

*Mysterious smile* "You have seen enough commanding Officers' command, I am sure you will be able to manage," he said with a smile and left, the family Butler escorted him out.

A moment later his Mother in Law returned "Did I hear you will be taking Paul Junior and Samantha with you to see their mother?!" Jennifer asked.

Looking at her "Yes, a trip will do them good, is that nanny you trust available? Will need someone to watch the little tykes while I command the ship?" Sharpe asked.

"I will go make the call, when will she be needed?" Jennifer asked.

"A day, two tops on second thoughts make it two, I have to get a booze list together Alex has taken some drink orders for a crew member for their wedding" Sharpe said and Jennifer nodded "If you will excuse me I have to go speak to my contacts about getting those drink orders" he said and left.

- Back Alley Shop - Earth -

Paul arrived at his contact place of work, it was a rundown shack on the outside, but inside it had all the mod cons, but these were in a back room, the main store looked like a shabby rundown affair, in stride he entered and paused and looked around "Grognak, you there you money hungry Ferengi?" he said teasingly.

Grognak comes forward rubbing his hands with a toothy smile "My good and dear friend Mr Paul Sharpe, what can Grognack the Aqcuirer of fine things do for my most favourite customer?" He asked.

Paul looked at him "Knock it off Grognak, we both know you are a smuggler who manages to get otherwise forbidden items through and get them authorised, I need those skills and the stuff I want need in two days tops" he said with a smile.

The Ferengi ran the numbers through his head and smelled profit "What is it you need my friend?" he asked.

Paul pulled out a list "Okay I need four crates of six bottles per crate of the following beverages" he began as the Ferengi pulled out his Padd "You ready, this is a big order?" Sharpe asked the Ferengi and gave him the look of 'you have to ask'...

Paul cleared his throat "Okay four crates with six bottles of each of Human Scotch, Vodka, Gin, Brandy, Rum and a drink known as Rye, then some Bloodwine and Bajoran Spring wine and finally some Romulan Ale, can you get all those by a specified time?" He asked ending with a question, he could see the Ferengi calculating.

"I have all items, but Rye and Romulan Ale and Bloodwine," he said.

"Forget the Rye and Bloodwine, I got Klingon Contacts for that, but as for the Romulan Ale, how quickly can you get it?" he asked.

After a moment of thought, "It will be risky but I can get the Romulan Ale by the designated day" Grognak said.

Taps the Fterngi hard on the shoulder "That is great, now let's discuss price and delivery method" Paul said.

Grognak was taken by surprise by the powerful shoulder tap, but the chance of profit overcame the pain.

- Flight Pan Earth -

Three days later Sharpe and his kids were boarding the shuttle that would take them to the Themistocles, the Admiralty was not happy, but a word from some influential Ambassadors silenced things, as paul and his children and their nanny boarded the shuttle his Padd bleeped, he looked at it, and it was confirmed the items ordered were in legal cargo crates and Paul had haggled Grognack down to five-hundred bars of gold pressed Latinum, Grognak was not happy as he broke even, but Paul has stuff that allowed such a deal to happen.

A few hours later the shuttle arrived at ESD and as they entered the station their ship came into view, "Look kids that is the ship we are going on to see your mum, aunt and Cousin Jasmine on" he said to his children.
