Mission: S02 Episode 3: When Realities Collide (Main Story)
Location: Starbase 39 Sierra/Tomcat/Wild space
Timeline: Mission 4 Day 0-7

[ON]

- Starbase 39 Sierra - Tomcat - CinC 39 Sierra's Office -

The USS Tomcat finally arrives at 39 Sierra and docks at one of the shipyards, now she had the time she read the message from the Rear Admiral on 39 Sierra and after reading it she knew that she would not be able to give the crew well-earned shore leave as the Tomcat was going to be given priority repair schedule and resupply and that she was to report to his Office the moment she got back.

So here she was Padd in hand heading to Rear Admiral Jones's office for their next mission briefing, she arrived outside the Admiral's office and pressed the buzzer.

"ENTER" came a loud voice.

Jasmine entered and stood to attention "you sent for me Sir?" Somers asked.

Looking up at what he was doing and smiling "Captain our long range sensors from the sensor station on Galen IV report of a strange spatial anomaly appearing and disappearing at random. Currently, we do not have any other ships that operate in the area, so I am assigning the Tomcat to this task. Your ship has been given the highest priority for repair and resupply" he said.

Looking a little puzzled herself "Admiral, what is exactly known about this anomaly?" Somers asked.

*Sighing heavily* "We have no idea, all we know is that it is a spatial anomaly and it also has a slight tachyon signature too, so it might also be temporal," Jones said.

"Oh great, the last thing I want is a visit from the Temporal Investigations Department," Somers said and noticed the Admiral agreeing with her oO interesting! Oo she thought to herself "Anything else Admiral?"

Admiral Jones looked at her "wish I had more Captain, but I do not, the repair crews should be done in two day's and a day after that your ship will be fully restocked so on the fourth day you will depart, any questions?" Jones asked.

"I got nothing Admiral, permission to leave?" Somers asked, the Admiral nodded and she stood up and left, as she exited the Admiral's office she headed to a communications kiosk to send one letter, to her family. Then she headed back to the ship and hoped the crew would enjoy their two day's off.

- Starbase 39 Sierra Shipyard - USS Tomcat -

Jasmine was sitting in the Captain's chair and she looked around all her senior staff were there and she knew others were below decks in their departments, so she opened a shipwide.

=/\= All hands this is the Captain, usually we would have us a mission briefing, but for once there is little the Admiral could tell us, all we know is that out in wild space just past Starbase 51 there is a spatial anomaly with a tachyon signature, indicating there could be temporal properties to it, so we have been tasked with getting closer and scanning it, if all goes well then it will be quick, but we all know that no mission turns out as it should, so be ready for anything, Somers out =/\= she closed the link then looked to Sterling.

"Commander the moment we leave space dock to begin preparing the science suite, I know it is not a large one, but we want as much data as we can *turns to Jekkar* Lieutenant create a code that will get us to red alert quicker in an unexpected moment and increase computer security from outside threats" she said.

"Yes, Sir! I have dedicated the resources of science lab 2 to this endeavour. Whatever is out there, We will find it, analyse it and hopefully understand it. I just hope we don't get a visit from temporal investigations, those guys have no sense of humour". Maia said ruefully.

Jekkar nodded. "Aye Captain it shouldn't take me too long to fix together something." The Lieutenant commented to her as he began his coding.

Opening the channel again =/\= All stations report status =/\= she wanted Engineering and Medical to respond too.

"Helm and Navigation Ready" Barker announced promptly

"Security and Tactical are all ready to go," Jekkar commented with a nod.

"Squee.. Communications and intelligence ready Captain."

"Engineering Ready. All new staff have reported from Starbase 39." Dodd added in sequence. "Warp core is fully primed and all engines are at one hundred percent."

Cahill responded, "Medical is ready and totally re-supplied.We also took on 26 new personnel for the ship and all physicals are completed. Captain perhaps external medical sensors may be able to help with scans and see what we can determine."

"Science labs and stations, sensors and navigational deflectors operational. All stations report green, Captain. We are ready for departure". Maia Stated.

Then she turned to Barker "Ensign Barker, prepare to depart shipyard, switch over to internal batteries" Somers said and she hears the switch as the warp core came to life and then the internal dampeners hid the vibrations of the warp core as they came online. "Detach gantry and external power cables."

"Aye Captain all done, thrusters one-half," Barker said as he went through the motions.

"When clear of the shipyard go to full impulse and then when able warp six," Somers instructed.

"Aye, aye Captain" Barker replied.

- Engineering -

Nelson, Pril, and Machado, along with the rest of the staff were in place and awaiting further commands from Taggert. While Dodd was on the bridge, she would keep them all in sync. The new staff all had transferred from other ships and so they fell into place. Dodd was confident that he could depend on Taggert to run things while he was on the bridge for the start of the mission.

"Alright everyone, let's get back to work," Taggert said with a smile and a nod. Dodd was up top on the bridge, and she was down in the depths making sure things would run smoothly here in engineering.

"Aye, Lieutenant," Teela smiled, enjoying calling her friend by her new rank.

"What little we've been told is there's a spatial anomaly that we're going to investigate. Gravity issues could come into play. Inertial dampeners, engines, structural integrity, those are all a priority here. We finished our repairs and got real fixes in for our patches, but let's double check everything to make sure it's all ready for what could happen out there," Taggert said.

Nelson, Pril, Machado, Southern, Tjaansz, Wilbanks, Ramp, Johnson, Thompson, and the rest of the staff gave 'aye sirs' in response as they got back to their stations. It shouldn't take too terribly long to recheck the fixes, but she was hoping it would help prevent surprises along the way.

- Bridge -

Back on the bridge Somers watched as the stars became star lines, while at warp she caught up on the backlog of files that were awaiting her, only briefly did she wonder what her Yeoman got up to when all her work was done, Jasmine always gave Lucy a lot of leeways as regardless of events she was always there when needed.

"Commander, have you any preliminary readings from that Spatial anomaly? Link with Starbase 51's computers and try to get me more data on that thing, I want to know as much as I can before we arrive there" Somers asked.

"I have the preliminary data that that Admiral Jones sent us, Sir. We are still too far out of range to get long range sensor telemetry. My team has prepared a class 9 probe with special spatial and chroniton detection equipment which we can launch as soon as we go to warp. The probe should get there 72 hours before we will. It should give us a better idea of what we are dealing with, Sir". Maia said from science one.

Nodding "excellent Commander, have the officer on duty launch the probe the moment we arrive," Somers said.

"I believe that will be you Captain unless you were planning on leaving soon, Sir". Maia replied

Somers looked up from her Padd and swivelled to face Jekkar and Cahill "Commander Cahill, get down to medical and make sure all is as it should be, also I understand there has been a few new tool advances for medical, you might want to get familiar with them" Somers said to Cahill.

"I love the ones I have seen so far Captain. For instance, the new tricorders are 4 times faster and give better readings than the old ones and we have the new surgical technology now we did not have before. Star Base 39 Sierra's medical staff gave us all the down loads and showed us how everything worked. Also, put up a holographic trainer in Holodeck 1 for us to train on it in our free time. I personally spent 6 hours there myself training and have other staff there now training. I do hope we don't need it but it is great to have if we do need it. To be honest I wish we would have had it in the Orion fight. Maybe some that died would still be alive". Dr Cahill replied.

Somers then looks at Jekkar "Lieutenant take Ensign K'Muss and show him the less glamorous aspects of Security work, I want a check of all weapon's lockers and armouries, use any security personnel or marines you want, also make sure everything is ship-shape security wise below decks if you will?" Somers said.

Jekkar nodded. "Aye Captain." He said as he signalled for an ensign to relieve him. The Andorian then pressed his Commander. "K'Muss, Saeed meet me in the main Armory." He then turned to the Captain. "You'll have my full report within the hour."

"Understood Mister Jekkar, Commander Cahill kindly make sure all is set up in Medical if you will!" Somers said to the Chief Medical Officer.

Dr Cahiil went toward the Turbo Lift and smiled, "On it, Captain" as the doors closed and the lift whisked her down to Medical where she walked in and saw that everything was going great. She passed through and went to her office. It seemed the one thing that never changed was the paperwork that needed to be done by a Doctor and the paperwork that a CMO had to do. She got a coffee and had a seat at her desk.

Just as Cahill had left the bridge Jasmine's Yeoman CPO1 Armitage enters the bridge and walks up to the Captain, "Captain our new Helm Officer Encryption specialist has reported to see you, she is waiting out in the waiting room," Armitage reported.

Nodding, "Thanks, Lucy, go let her know I will be there shortly," Somers said and watched Lucy walk off the bridge, she then spoke without looking "Commander Sterling, you have the bridge," and with that, she headed off to her Ready Room.

"Aye Captain," Maia said moving to the centre seat. "Helm set course 214 degrees mark 17, and engage at Warp 6," Maia ordered.

The Tomcat entered warp in a star streak of light, soon the ship was at warp.

Then the XO pressed a button on the command chair to the science lab. =/\=Science one the launch probe =/\=. Maia ordered.

=/\=Probe away, Commander=/\= The lab reported.

- Ramsey's Quarters - half hour earlier -

For Ramsey, it had been a whirlwind moving through Starfleet Academy, getting her degree and then being assigned to the Tomcat. She had not been able to do much at the point of research on the crew and the ship but she was hoping it would go well. At least her condition wasn't easy to see as her hair hid the majority of the Borg implant that ran from behind her ear to the base of her skull. The time with the Borg had been horrible but at least she was able to walk now.

With the final green duffle emptied and her personal effects in their appropriate places, she made her way out into the hallway to get the reporting done and over with.

- Outer Office to Captain's Ready Room -

Lucy was finalising some Paperwork when she noticed someone standing opposite her desk, she looked up with a friendly smile and the half human/Bajoran did not immediately recognise the Ensign standing before her. Then she took a closer look and then back down at the file before looking up "Ah Ensign Ramsey, welcome to the Tomcat, I trust you managed to settle in well?"

"Yes, Ma'am," Ramsey said politely. "I was able to find my way around."

"Excellent, if you will please take a seat, I will go and let the Captain know you are here" she finished Armitage said indicating a seat across from the desk.

Charlotte took her seat and gave the captain a nod.

With that Lucy picked up her Padd and headed for the bridge via the Captain's Ready Room, normally Lucy having little to do would be thinking about the mission, but she was glad that she had other distractions as she had a bad feeling.
