Mission: S3 Episode 5: Diplomatic Incident/Hydaransz Again (Incidentals)
Location: Tal Shiar Base
Timeline: Back post

[ON]

CPO Alexi Michelle looked out at the imposing structure of the base they were to enter. So far the flight to the base had allowed them to discus options and separating of the assault unit into smaller teams with varying targets. Alexi’s team was one of two assigned the rescue of the Ambassador. With that in mind, they began to make their mission plans and try to assess the most probable location of where the Ambassador would be held. From the briefing at the start of the mission, she knew they had somehow managed to acquire area access codes and were able to mimic a Romulan vessel’s signature and ident that would allow them to travel in that area. That was the easy part.

With only a few minutes to go before they neared the base and identified the best options for ingress to the station, which would be, according to the information they had, an unguarded and little used cargo port, everyone was making sure they were ready to hit the decks running. As soon as they entered the base atmosphere, the doors of their ship opened and they began to jump out and secure the perimeter for the others. Alexi knew it would not take long for those on the base to react as her team forged ahead to locate the Ambassador and get him out of the hands of the enemy.

Tiffany was on all guards. Her strong battalion boots made complex jostled movements forward in a jog, raising dirt outside the Tal Shiar Base.

Zellers raised her enhanced compression rifle, the sighter targeting, scanning from the Starfleet scope. The teams, in tandem, were going to ambush the Tal Shiar compound in a surprise attack. Egressing the troop carrier exterior ramp, they were taking the Romulans by surprise, at least, Tiffany had hoped. Her hazel eyes and shimmering red hair were tossed over his shoulders as she assumed a tactical bending forward and jogging forward, crossing through the open plane of rock slab terrain to the compound where they hoped the Ambassador was being held.

The teams carried out the ambush, with Tiffany holding her weaponry and passing the open area outside. Hopefully, they wouldn’t be spotted, Zellers breathing, regulating her exhales, and exhaling out.

Following along with Master Chief Petty Officer Alexi Michelle, Lieutenant Serina "Reaper" Donovan, Lieutenant JG Tosrol Ze, the CSO. Zellers also tagged with 1st Lieutenant Mazal Falk & Ensign Liam Bäckström & 1st Lieutenant James O'Donnaghue.
Zellers eyed one of the side entrance security ports among the many entrances to the sprawling Tal Shair complex. “We need someone to code and open the access door; then we will be in without the officers and staff knowing it.” Zellers. She cascaded her scope visual to the rest of the team with the doorway coordinates.

“It looks unguarded. I thought the Tal Shiar was more protective than that.” Ensign Zellers shook her hair out of the way and repositioned herself to a halt as they were 50 meters to the identified entrance target verification on the Tal Shiar Facility. “My scans are checking for blackout emitters, which would be used to scramble any transporter lock on the Ambassador. There are numerous blackout coordinates on the tricorder. “Therefore, the ambassador must be in those areas,” Tiffany Tricorder highlighted her scanning of the facility.

Ze was at the front of the pack, compression rifle up and aimed looking round at the team "OK Guys no Splittng up, we stick to each other like glue where I go you go, where I shoot you shoot do we have an understanding?" He said turning to face everyone "How are those scans Zellers what are we walking into? Anybody else have anything on scans?" He offered as he rounded the corner checking for hostiles.

Alexi took her time scanning for explosives that may be attached to the indicated unguarded entry point. She wouldn't put it past the Tal Shair to make it look easy so impatient invaders would go for the easy points only to be decimated. Her scans revealed a rather leathal contraption on the other side of that door, "I would not go that way," she said as she pointed to the door, "They have it booby trapped with enough explosives to blow all of us to space dust."

Zellers turned to the rest of the crew and fell along in line as she was already. She checked her eye-goggle signatures and ensured that nobody was hiding around any corners or walls.

Alexi checked her scans once more then shook her head slightly. "I am not seeing any other explosive devices in the immediate vicinity, Sir. However, that does not mean there are not other traps nearby. These tricky bastards are known for playing dirty." She shifted into line behind Zellers as they advanced behind their team leader.

Serina carefully advanced with the group, looking around as she moved. She was not cut out for this kind of thing. It was awkward and a bit uncomfortable wearing all the gear. However, she was included and she was going to do her best to serve her.

Mayhew had her phaser at the ready, she was nervous,as things were definitely at a high point of stress. She continued to follow after the leader, keeping an eye out for something that may come their way. Right now though she was the medic, hoping that they won't come across anything awful.

Alexi fell in behind Zellers and Ze, her eyes scanning the area for places of concealment for the enemy forces. Her heart was pounding against her chest in anticipation of the likely altercation they would soon be involved in. Looking at Ze she commented, "If there are three possible places of incarceration, perhaps it would be advantageous to split into teams to inspect them. Make for faster mission. The faster we find the Ambassador, the faster we can get back home." She said then quickly added, "Sir."

Tiffany blinked, her eyes catching a shadow along one of the walled corridors to the left. She bit her lower lip and breathed in and out controlled. "Oh my god. I think there is someone ahead. Be on the lookout, 9 O'Clock." She whispered through her com signature to the rest of the Group concerned on what they might enter.

Alexi quickly glanced over and whispered into her coms, "Suggest we stay low. Assume they will be trying to shoot middle mass. We stay low might be able to surprise them a bit."

Ze nodded as soon as he heard the rest of the team "have we located the ambassador yet team?" he said holding up his rifle with ease "Zellers anything on the chatter?" he spoke as he rounded the corner "Clear guys no hostiles yet"

"Possibly," Alexi replied as she moved up the corridor, "Ensing Zellers has identified three probable locations. Scanners are unable to read anything in those areas. For all we know, one could be their command center."

Ze took a moment to think through the options, his rifle up in the air "We hit the closest one to us first and work our way round we stic kto each other like glue I have no idea what they have planned or how many of them there are so lets move out ladies and gentlemen" he said taking lead at the head of the pack "Ok Zellers I need coardinates of the first location?"

Zellers called out through her coms to the rest of the team, her eyes hawkish as she gave her MGRS reference "Ahead 4Q FJ 1433 2599 Mark." Tiff aimed her hand forward along with her rifle giving a nod in the darkened hall.

Mayhew shifted her gear to a more easier sort of position. She felt like she was a bit of a paradox, here she was medical, but also she was someone who believed in protecting others, either way there was going to be some injuries, to be taking care of. She hoped not but this sort of assault was going to promise there will be injuries.

Serina suddenly shifted gears into her CAG mindset but on the ground and set her rifle at the ready. She now became part pilot and combat ground assault. She was ready for a ground assault and now looked and acted the part. Following the guy in front of her, she was all ears and eyes looking high and low, ears seeking any noise that would signal danger, she slowly advanced.

Alexi moved with the group, keeping her eyes sweeping the area for danger as they followed the direction to the first possible location of the Ambassador. Her mind was focused on the mission to retrieve the Ambassador and to protect her fellow teammates during this little excursion into enemy territory. She heard footsteps growing louder from a junction ahead of them and used hand signals to warn Ze of the inevitable confrontation.

Reading the hand signals, she stopped dead in her tracks and readied herself for what was coming. Crouching low and keeping her rifle at the ready, she could faintly hear the footsteps that made Alexi hault the group. oOReady yourself Serina. This can and will get ugly fastOo She thought quickly.

Tiffany furrowed her right eyebrow. This wasn't right. She was receiving phaser static feedback over her wrist tricorder. She tapped in her comment to the earpieces of the team.

'I'm receiving phaser static feedback. Someones using an ultimator phase discriminator... Amp down your rifles. They're using rifle sigs to monitor our movement!' Tiff had hoped this was received and digested, as he looked across to Serena.

Alexi pressed herself against the bulkead, llistening as the footsteps drew closer. Only one set as far as she could tell, so that was good. If they could maintain the element of surprise and remove the threat before a warning could be given that would be great. Quietly would be best so she secured her blaster and pulled her K-bar from it's sheath. Timing would be everything and she signaled to her companions to get against the wall. Alexi held her breath, waiting for her target to step just past her so she could take them from behind.

Mayhew's phaser was set on stun, max stun that she could have it set to. She'll take them down as quick as she can then move forward as the others will do so too.

Following Mayhew's actions, Serina had put her own phaser set on heavy stun and was ready to react quickly.

Alexi saw the weapon come around the corner first and knew there would be no element of surprise, it seemed thatTtiffinay's assessment was correct and the Tal Shair already knew where they were. She pushed off the wall, knocking up the enemy's weapon. She stepped forward and swung the blade hard across the Romulan's neck as she stepped around him.

Serina did not wait as she came up on Alexi. Ready to help, "Alexi, need help? There are more coming. *listens for more approaching foot steps*", she said standing at the ready.

Alexi gave Serina a brief nod, "I hear them too. I do believe the cat is out of the bag." She looked back over at Tosrol, "So which way do you want us to go? I fairly sure that either way is going to end in a firefight."

Waiting for her orders, Serina remained next to Alexi and waited. Her ears picking upore footsteps in the distance coming their way. " Yup, I hear more footsteps and they are in a hurry", a firefight for sure was heading their way.

Ze Heard the footsteps "Romulans frack it" he muttered as he looked to the team "As soon as those rommy basatrds round that corner you have the green light to light there asses up don't stand on ceremony" he said readying his rifle as the foot steps got closer.

Her mouth was growing dry, just waiting to see who she was going to have to treat. Mayhew licked her lips to moisten them. A fight she felt was close at hand.

Alexi swore under her breath. "Ok we are about to get into the shit, so where was that location. Let's storm the gates as it were and get the Ambassador and get him out of here."

"Great idea. I am ready when you are, just say when", Serina said crouching lower. "I wanna get the hell outta here PDQ!" she added.

Alexi looked back at Ensign Zellers for the location and direction. They needed to move, and they needed to do it NOW. She then glanced over to Ze, awaiting his go signal to move.

Zellers eyed Alexi, Ze, Mayhew, Bäckström and O'Donnaghue. Using her hands in pre-determined signals, Zellers conveyed specific messages. Pointing in a left direction, hand on head, and then waited... A few seconds passed as she watched her wrist tricorder. She then issued two fingers up: move forward for the storm. Now or never.

Alexi gave Zellers a quick nod. Poking her head around the corner she then spun to the left and fired down the right corridor. She saw the others moving next to her, following Zellers to the most likely location, or at least the closest one.

Serina moved quickly and came around the corner like a snake, firing as she went. Her aim true she took down the enemy one at a time, moving along with Alexi, guarding her flank.

Mayhew took off after Serina and Alexi, making certain she also stayed next to Ze. One thing that she was noticing was Ze seemed to be having a struggle. She knew he was full betazed, and was probably catching all of the emotions that were happening all at once.

Ze was really struggling the emotions coming at him like a bomb, he charged into the corridor "Zellers your with me were going into the room to retrieve the ambassador is everyone else ok to hold off the advancing romulans give us some time?" he choked as dosged disruptor fire "Alexi if anything happens your in charge do you understand!" he yelled.

Once the rest of the team had moved down the corridor, Alexi moved along with them, walking backwards to protect the flank. Firing quickly at a few Romulans that poked their heads out from cover kept her busy until they reached their destination. They reached the scan-void room and breeched the door. Alexi ducked into the room just as a shot went past where her head had been only seconds before. "Damn, he frizzed my hair," she said as she patted down the side of her head.

Serina shot the Romulan dead center as he took the shot at Alexi. "Alexie are you ok?", Serina asked as she kept up her attack on the rest of the Romulans that kept on coming.

Zellers ambushed alongside Serina as she aimed for one of the Romulans, discharging her phaser rifle. The surprise was that it felt good. Zellers felt the rush of adrenaline. She disliked having to kill another person, yet the Romulan was holding a Federation member of the Council hostage.

“Yes.” She mouthed hitting the Romulan with her weapon, ducking at the same time ensuring that the other green fire, she ducked.

Alexi swore under her breath for a second then turned to Serina, "I'm good, He just missed though." She saw Zellers firing at one of the Romulans and ducking in time for their shot to miss by a good margin. Ze and the others were farther into the room, "someone, please, tell me we found him!" She called out to the group as she once again returned fire down the corridor.

Ze had rushed in guns blazing, what he was met with was absolutely derailing "Its not good news Alexi" he rushed over to the body, ran his tricorder over the body and he choked no life signs what so ever "HES DEAD" he said as he saw a body move from the corner of his eyes disruptor fire came at him, dodging as he felt a flurry of hits and he was on the floor head bouncing off the hard metal floor.

Alexi barely had time to register what Ze had said when the disruptor fire came from the far corner and Ze's body hit the floor hard. Alexi swore even as she aimed towards the Romulan firing. She wasn't the only one firing either, several other bursts of phaser fire had all aimed at the same location. The result was that the Romulan was all but vaporized. Alexi ran over to Ze. Checking him quickly she noticed he was still breathing, but otherwise not moving. "Medic, get over here. Then get someone to assist getting Lt Tosrol back to the exfil point." She nodded to the other team members, "The rest of you cover us," She said as she swung her weapon out of the way and managed to get the ambassador's body over her shoulders. "Time's a wasting, let's get the heck out of dodge," She grunted and nodded towards the doorway. She pulled her phased rifle forward knowing this was not going to be a piece of cake by any stretch of the imagination.

Zeller's eyes bulged out when Ze was supposedly hit. She didn’t see it, but she was well darned not to let anyone ambush the retreating team. Slapping her com badge, Zellers stated, “Retreat to emergency exit points. Repeat, retreat to emergency egress points.”

Tiffany, watching with the rifle aiming. She had her black ops visor on, helping her spot any unfriendlies keeping their hides intact.

Alexi struggled under the dead weight of the Ambassador, but she sure as hell wasn't leaving him behind. As the team moved out to the emergency exfil points it was a running battle. "Watch the junction for attack from both sides," She grunted out, and then immediately wanted to swear at how accurate tht prediction was. She pressed herself as best she could to the wall and fired towards the left then lurched to the other side to fire down the right corridor. She barely missed getting hit when she began to hop-scotch across the corridor. She heard the panel next to her explode and felt the heat on her leg for barely a second.

Mayhew ran over and examined the Ambassador then turned to help out Ze. She frowned at what happened and then lifted him to where she was carrying him on her back. "Let's go, we all will need attention." She called out. No one was going to be left behind. And she glanced over at Alexi and the others. Their wounds will have to be taken care of back on the shuttle and them getting ouut of here.

Alexi pushed the team as fast as she could go to the emergency beam-out location. Exchanging weapons fire with the Romulans every step of the way. Another near miss of a Romulan disruptor hit just behind her and she heard the explosion of metal. She didn't feel anything hit and just kept moving, assuming whatever had exploded managed to hit the already dead ambassador instead of her. Although that was not exactly the truth. She didn't feel it because her leg was already numb from the earlier burns. Unfortunately, some of it did hit Ze as he was carried back to the exfil.

The team finally got to their designated location and Alexi hit her coms, "Team Alpha requesting emergency transport." She glanced at the team as she saw the shimmering of transport beams begin to bring the team to the relative safety of their transport.
