Mission:
S3 Episode 5: Diplomatic Incident/Hydaransz Again (Incidentals)
Location: USS Tomcat.
The shuttle docked with a faint movement that Shon felt despite the fact that most of the other passengers did not. She didn't recognise any of the remaining few people disembarking and she felt rather distant. She shouldered her heavy brown duffle bag led a sleepy grumbling Puss and left the shuttle returning to the elegant feel and lines of the Tomcat. The noise hurt her sensitive ears as , for the last few months she had taken leave on Vulcan with T’Ghrek her bond brother and his family. There always seemed to be a silence on Vulcan, which, for the most part she enjoyed. Whilst there she had received the news that her brother Telvan’s body had been found with the others of the exploration vessel Kon Tiki. It looked as though the ship had been hit by a meteorite whist its shields were down. All six on board had died immediately due to multiple hull breaches the report had stated starkly. Telvan had been missing for three years presumed but it was still a shock. His body had been sent to Vulcan as her mother was, to say the least, ambivalent about her son.
The funeral rites had taken place in Vulcana Regnar and, due to her brothers place in Vulcan society Telvan’s remains had been taken to Mount Selaya and laid to rest in the caves of Thall. Shon had stayed on to spend some time with her grief and to regain her skills in meditation, which due to her half Risian heritage was sometimes difficult. She had enjoyed the red desserts and mountains of the region and on returning to Vulcana she felt better than she had for a long time.
Realising she was still standing in the corridor she apologised for causing an obstruction and found her way to her quarters. The door swished shut behind her, in the quiet if felt as though she had never been away. Puss climbed up onto his huge cat tree as though he had never been away, closed his eyes and began to snore. The air felt stale after the air of Vulcan. The pure air on the mountains of Selaya were far away now and she missed it although she knew she would quickly get used to it. She emptied her duffle bag onto the chair taking out a beautifully coloured Art’ ATG vase given to her by one of the Priestesses. Shon felt much more able to meditate now and was looking forward to spending several hours in meditation. She walked over to the replicator and order a spiced Vulcan red tea, sat and began to go through her messages.
Puss’s snores became louder and she smiled. There were a couple of messages from people inviting her to Medical symposiums and a personal letter of condolence from her Mothers brother. One message from Starfleet Medical informed her that her article on viral replication in risomatic enzymes was going to be used in Starfleet Medical texts and will be taught at medical school. Shon laughed out loud. “Article!” She exclaimed. “Since when was eighteen hundred pages deemed an article” she said out loud. The last one also from Starfleet sending their condolences for the loss of her brother. It also said they would be sending his private articles to her. She shut the communique off not wanting to deal with that.
Puss stopped snoring and opened one golden eye as if to castigate her for waking him. She stuck her tongue out at him, “okay, okay I’m going.” She said as she washed and put on a clean uniform. “We’re home then!” she announced to the quiet room and a now sleeping Puss. She looked around “ Sickbay it is then,” she announced and left her quarters.
