Alexandra maintained her cover in the now gathering crowd preparing for the pending announcement. From what she could gather, the government was going to announce that they have been able to develop a new satellite that could do more than help with broadcasting to the masses. This was a little unnerving because they could really only lead to using the satellite and future satellites as a means to watch the skies and the people. If they could watch the skies then they would see approaching vessels from off-world.
Alexandra kept to herself and kept her cover. She was now in the middle of a crowd in the park and sitting in the audience portion of the event ready to see just what was to come.
She noticed that the one she was watching, Dr. Davenport as she was once known by the Federation was now on the stage preparing her notes for the announcement. Then she saw an entourage of security gathered around her. This let Alexandra know she was for sure the one that needed to be taken into custody once the Tomcat returned.
After a little while, a signal went out over public announcement system. The public quietly started to gather and a hush fell upon the center of the city. The main figure head of the council then arrived and took a seat on the stage, followed by other council members and some of the business leaders and a few of the local celebrities.
The silence was intense and you likely could have heard the heart beats of the public if you really focused. Alexandra had a prime location and was focused on Dr. Davenport, who went by the name Dr. Davine here on Arth. She was the head of councils research and development board and the second in charge if anything happened to the main figure head of the council.
Dr. Davine was in her late sixties but still a very fit and healthy woman. She had really made a place for herself in this civilization. She had the power and knowledge to be a threat to anyone that challenged her.
A young woman got up to the podium and made an announcement that Grand Leader Berma Trude would be addressing the gathered citizens in about what would be twenty minutes. As the young woman stepped back from the podium, Alexandra noticed there was a young man (likely in his late twenties) standing right in front of the stage with a very noticeable firearm that was more advanced than what local law enforcement had been carrying under normal circumstances. This firearm was more like the standard issue phaser that was issued about thirty years ago but seemed more streamlined.
From her observation, it appeared that Dr. Davine was modifying all the tech she had ever had and making new variations for the government that she was somehow controlling for her purposes.
The time had come and Dr. Davine got to the podium to introduce Grand Leader Berma Trude. Dr. Davine was elegant and cheerful as she gave the introduction and stepped aside to let Grand Leader Trude take the podium. The speech was simple and yet sounded like some political speeches from say the 1980's era of Earth. Then the moment came when Grand Leader Trude made the announcement that council had developed a new type of satellite that would be able to look out into the skies and see any off-world threats that could harm Arth. This new type of satellite would also be able to look back at Arth and help with monitoring the planet for natural threats as well. Just recently, a huge storm destroyed a large port city on the southern most coast of one of the most populous continents. Had the people been able to see things develop, the people of the port city may have had a chance to prepare for the onset of the storm. This was really a ploy given to the public to say that Big Sister would be watching everyone.
Alexandra knew she would have to act fast to keep ahead of the technology Dr. Davine was making in order to keep herself undercover. Alexandra only hoped that her ship would arrive soon to put a end to this whole situation and get her home.
This new satellite would be launched into orbit in the next two days. Unknown to the citizens of Arth, Alexadra's ship should be here by then and hopefully get this situation under wraps. However, the Orions could likely be here a day or two after that.
