Mission:
General Sim Postings
Location: Starbase 51 - Kildare quarters
Timeline: After Current Mission

Now they were back at Starbase 51 Lamia was grateful to have time to spend with her husband, it seemed like a very long time since they’d had time together besides just sleeping the night away after a long day working. Walking into their base quarters she flopped down onto the sofa.
Chris was grabbing two bottles of beer in the kitchen of their quarters when he heard his wife plop down on the sofa.
“Oh, this is so much nicer!” She smiled and motioned for Chris to join her on the sofa.
As he entered the main room, Chris offered Lamia an ice-cold beer. "It is the real thing. I'd like to know where Alex gets her supplies," Chris said, sitting down next to Lamia and taking a swig.
Lamia gave her husband a somewhat quizzical look. “Not for me, thank you. Alcohol isn’t recommended during pregnancy, I know one probably wouldn’t hurt, but I’ll pass anyway.”
"One will not hurt, and it is below 5% Vol," he said. So why was Commander Dodd assigning you to a potentially hazardous Away Mission? I am not against you working until the due time, but Arth was not exactly a safe zone," Chris said.
“The thought was that my senses and the fact that I’d been to Arth before would prove useful.” Lamia offered an understanding smile. “The Captain wouldn’t let me leave the shuttle anyway.”
"I Like her more now" Chris said "The thought that you were on an Away mission in your current state had me worried as I did not want a repeat of that Slave capture issue you went through" Chris added as he put the bottles down stood up and walked over to the replicator and got an ice cold water and brought it to his wife.
“Thank you” Lamia smiled as she accepted the glass and sipped her water. “To be honest I didn’t think of that, as much as I probably should have. I just wanted to be useful, I know I’ll be expected to remain onboard ship from now on, unless it’s been deemed safe enough for me to go. I guess I’ll have to get used to that. Besides our baby is more important.”
*nodding* he took a swig of his beer "There is also the fact that we are going to need someone on SB51 to look after the little one, as we will only be able to keep them on the Tomcat for the first six months after that it will be on the Starbase, I can call my parents as they are eager to change living locations unless you have someone in mind?" Chris responded.
Lamia shook her head. "As much as my parents will want to be involved I doubt they'd want to move to the station permanently. To be honest I'm struggling with the whole idea of being separated from our baby, what if we're out on a prolonged mission? how much growing up are we going to miss!?"
*smiling* "Babies do not grow up that quickly, there is such a thing as sub-space calls so the little one will hear our voices, but we will have to cherish the first 6 months the baby will be with us on the ship. As for babysitters I spoke to my parents when I found out and they are ready to move to Starbase 51 to babysit when we are on a mission. There have been working parents for centuries and parents who had served in the militaries in the past who had kids, so we need not worry too much" he paused "At least we will have something to look forward to when we complete a mission" Chris added.
Lamia nodded. “True, but it’s not that simple. Having lost a baby, this pregnancy, and our son, mean so much to me it’s so difficult trying to process leaving him behind, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to be away from you either!” She sighed. “I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
"You could always transfer to the Starbase, that way you will have less time interacting with the Tomcat crew and more time with our son, but also a larger Patient base, that would mean the Captain would need to find a new Chief Counsellor, do you want that?" Chris asked "Serving Officers through the centuries left their children at home when they went to duty. Starfleet found out what they had forgotten about having families on a ship when Wolf 359 happened that event ended the Federation's golden era and made us realise the galaxy is not as peaceful as we had thought, why do you think Outposts do not have families and few Space Docks have them because their placement is usually in a less secure area of space. A compromise was made with this Starbase as it is out in the sticks, and it is too far for family members to be transiting from here to the core worlds," Chris added.
Lamia shook her head. “I don’t want to give up my position onboard the ship. I’ve worked hard to get where I am now. Admittedly, I came onboard as Chief of Ops until I changed to Counselling. I want to stay, so I’ll reconcile myself with that decision later. Right now, I want to enjoy time with you.”
"I cannot fault that; after all, I am the best-looking Demolitions Expert", he said, finishing the first beer and then starting on the second, humour in his voice and a sly smile on his lips as he said this.
“Is that so?” Lamia grinned a wry grin. “I’ve noticed the way other women on the ship swoon at that smile of yours, I’d chase them all away if I had to.” She picked up her drink and drank some before putting it down again.
"I have noticed that the Colonel and Captain are not immune to it, but I rarely interact with them these days, what is strange is the Colonel's sister is affected by my smile when I turn on the charm, I would not think it possible considering her orientation," Kildare said in response "so has the little one kicked recently?" He asked, referring to the baby.
“Not quite yet. From what I’ve read, I should start feeling it around 20-24 weeks, not that much longer to wait.” She smiled warmly. “We should consider names. What names do you like?”
*nods* "Remind me again, is it a boy or a girl?" Chris asked.
*gives Chris a quizzical look* “You’ve forgotten already? We’re having a boy, you’re having a son.”
*Scratches head*"Busy two weeks, slipped my mind, hmm male names, give me a moment to think, Well the surname is Kildare, what boy Betazoid names do you know?" Chris asked.
“It’s not so much the first name we worry about, it’s normally the surname.” Lamia smiled. “We’re not a traditional Betazoid family, so that’s not something to worry about. I quite like Callum, or maybe Caleb? Cal for short. What about you?”
*thinking* "Hmm, good start, Paul. John after my Dad or perhaps Jeff after my brother," Chris suggested.
“Well, that’s a start” Lamia smiled. “Right now, though, I have you all to myself, and I don’t intend to waste a moment of it.” She playfully took the beer from his hand and put it down before she moved to sit on his lap. “Now, what could I possibly do with you?” She grinned a wry grin.
*Putting his arms around her* with a smile, "I can think of a few things", he said as he kissed his wife.
“Of that I’ve no doubt” Lamia smiled a wry smile as she leant in for a romantic kiss. “No doubt at all.”
