Mission: S02 Episode 3: When Realities Collide (Main Story)
Location: USS Tomcat
Timeline: Mission 4 Day 51

- Captain's Ready Room -

As she finished her meeting with Winchester, she escorted him onto the bridge and gave him the nickel tour "this is the helm station, it will be your duty post when you are not flying fighters, any questions? also, you will have a Navigator with you too." Somers asked.

"And who is my Navigator?" asked Paul looking back at the Captain, He knew he could fly this ship, but having a navigator was something new for him, as he hoped that he could get on with whoever it was.

"It will be whoever is on duty at the time, but all my Navigators are highly trained, some are even Marines" Somers added and walked to the next station "this is Sensor and Communications, usually our Chief Intel Officer occupies this station, but she missed the flight, you will meet her at some point, the rest of the bridge is pretty standard for an Akira Class, the weapons have been enhanced as to pack a harder punch, but the ship still has its limitations of its weight class. Most of the stations are dual use, I expect all my crew to get some basic familiarity with every console, including my pilots and navigators." With that she led him to the turbo lift and entered, as the doors closed "Shuttle bay" she said and the lift began to move "Any questions, so far?" Somers asked.

"Not at the moment Ma'am, but I will see to it that the helm is manned when I am not on the Bridge and that all pilots are familiar with all bridge consoles," replied Paul looking back at her, he finished," If that is what you would like?"

"Excellent" Somers said she looked at the next senior ranking officer "El-tee you have Command" Somers said to a Marine Second Lieutenant then turned to Winchester, okay lets take you down to meet our Chief engineer" she added as she led the CAG to the turbo lift and when the doors had closed "Main Engineering" she said and the lift began to move "have you nothing to ask Lieutenant?" she asked looking at Winchester.

"Well, I'd like to know who is running the maintenance crews as I've had a word they are not sure who to report to," replied Paul looking back at the Captain as he brushed his hair back.

"You are about to meet the Chief engineer, he can fill you and then perhaps you two can work out something," Somers said as the pair exited the turbo lift on the Engineering deck and walked down the corridor to where the main engineering was located, as they walked Somers continued. "I assume you have taken the time to check the rest of the ship, in your spare time?"

"Yes Ma'am, I found the holodecks and the mess hall," replied Paul looking back at her, he continued," and I have yet to head to Sickbay to see the CMO as I have not had the time,"

"Currently the CMO is on an Away Mission, but you will get to meet Commander Cahill eventually, but you should get your annual checkup done when you can" Somers added and both entered Main Engineering "Lieutenant Dodd" Somers shouted.

"Aye Ma'am that I will," replied Paul looking back at his boss, He continued," and I will make sure that all my Pilots have had their Physicals done," as he kept to her stride upon entering the Engineering bay, this he knew was going to be fun here now that he had his flying life back.

The door chimed into Dodd's office.

"Enter," Dodd stated.

"Sir, the captain is here calling out for you," Machado stated.

"Thank you for that information," Dodd replied as Machado turned to get back to his station.

Dodd grabbed his jacket and headed out to Main Engineering.

"Captain, sorry I was in my office reviewing performance appraisals for the maintenance and damage control teams," Dodd stated once she was close enough to the captain and her guest to hear. "What do I owe the honour of your visit to engineering?"

Shaking her head "Not a problem Chief, this is Lieutenant Paul Winchester, our new CAG and Helm Officer, he needs to arrange things with you about maintenance times and other such sundries, is it okay if I leave him with you Chief?" Somers asked.

"Sure, ma'am," Dodd replied to the captain's question.

"Welcome aboard. I know I didn't get to meet everyone that came aboard recently. Nice to finally meet you." Dodd stated to Winchester. "Why don't we go to my office and address your questions and concerns about maintenance and what not?" Dodd address of Winchester while motioning towards the direction of the office.

"Why thank you, Lieutenant," Replied Paul as he turned to watch the Captain leave him, He then turned to follow the Chief engineer towards his office. He thought oO I do hope I can work with him Oo as he noticed the Lieutenant waiting for him to enter his office.

Winchester entered Dodd's office and Dodd was right behind and then made his way to his chair.

"Have a seat," Dodd stated toward Winchester. "What would you like to talk about?" or I think we can work together as long as he learns to control his thoughts better. Oo Dodd thought to himself after picking up a few random thoughts from Winchester.

Winchester looked at Dodd as he sat down, "I am told Lieutenant that all maintenance crews fall under your jurisdiction, I would like to at a later date have a meeting to set up a regular maintenance and repair rota for my fighters, as I am now the ships CAG and I do not like to leave the ship without a defensive screen when the Captain asks for one. currently, I would like to set up time when we can go through the finer details if this is okay with you Lieutenant Dodd?" Winchester asked.

"Lieutenant, I am willing to help you out with how you want to oversee your fighters and their maintenance. Before I took over in engineering, the fighter maintenance teams were under the supervision of the CAG, but we have not had one in a while and they were given to the chief engineer to look after. I have no issues with how you wish to have them staffed for your needs. I can sit down at another time to work with you if you need to make different arrangements for that segment of the crew." Dodd replied. "I only want to keep the ship running at its peak efficiency or better if possible."

Nodding in agreement "we can do that Lieutenant Dodd, but it would be nice if those maintenance crews could be a joint command between us!" Winchester responded.

"I think we can work together to make that happen. Many of those staff members are strictly here for the purpose of tending to the fighter deck and the fighters. I think we will work well together and maybe even become friends in the end," Dodd replied.

Giving a brief thought to that, "I am sure that we can become friends eventually" Winchester said with a smile

- Lower decks - Turbo lift - Bridge -

After leaving the two Lieutenants to discuss things Somers left Engineering and headed to the nearest turbo lift, approaching one, the doors opened to admit her, the moment they closed "Bridge" Jasmine said and the lift took her up to deck one.

Exiting onto the bridge, "Report" she said and the Duty Officer a First Lieutenant promptly reported.

"All is quiet Captain, we have not yet heard from the away teams, no hostiles have approached us and the few scavengers that tried to board us were sent away with tails between their legs" he reported.

"Excellent, open a channel to Commander Sterling," Somers said, the Lieutenant nodded and walked over to the communications console and opened a hail.

=/\= Captain Somers to Commander Sterling, SITREP? =/\= Somers asked.

=/\=Sterling here Captain, We are just finishing up here and heading back to the shuttle. We found traces of Xenothium here that could have been used in a biogenic weapon. Whether it was used by the inhabitants of this planet or the attackers is undermined at this time, I have collected samples for further study. Also, we have found and analyzed the maturation chambers. This was evidently a highly advanced civilization, far more than Starfleet I have found evidence that they were able to manipulate zero point energy. I'm bringing back a depleted module for study=/\= Maia reported.

=/\= Excellent Commander, make sure you have as much information as you can get, then make your way back to the shuttle, I have to contact Lieutenant Jekkar's team =/\= Somers responded sounding happy.

=/\=Understood Captain, Sterling out!=/\= Maia said.

After the link was closed she opened a link to Jekkar's team =/\= Captain Somers, to Lieutenant Jekkar or Ensign K'Muss, SITREP?" Somers asked over the communications.

=/\= Jekkar here, we are conducting our scans and monitoring the area.=/\= The Andorian said over the comm. "But I've got my team working on it.=/\=

=/\= Make it snappy Lieutenant, I will want your team back on the ship in two hours as that is the amount of your EVA suits have left =/\= Somers said.

Jekkar paced about the Security Office on the planet, or what was left of it as he spoke =/\=Understood Captain, we will not be much longer and are just finishing up=/\= Jekkar responded and closed the link

When the link to Jekkar had been closed, Somers opened a link back to Sterling =/\= Commander, you have two hours remaining, any longer and the environment will make your EVA suits vulnerable =/\=

=/\= "Aye Captain we are already on our way back to the shuttle, should be there in a little less than 1/2 an hour,".=/\=Maia said.

With that, she closed off the communications and prepared the Tomcat to leave the area. At the stated time reports came in that both Away Teams had safely returned to the ship and were currently in decontamination, so using the crew she had remaining available Ensign Barker sitting at the Helm station took the ship away from the desolate planet that was once Trelor Prime and headed out at Warp 6.
