Mission: S02 Episode 3: When Realities Collide (Main Story)
Location: USS Tomcat/Various
Timeline: Mission Day 80

[ON]

It had been some days since all the shuttle teams had returned and the refugees ferried to New Xindus undercover, they would have stories of seeing look-a-likes and what seemed the shuttle bay of a powerful Starfleet ship, other stories would be told of some group destroying the enemy base on New Xindus, regardless of her intent the Captain’s crew had lit the fires of hope in the weary defenders again and for the most part remained undetected, so now the Tomcat was leaving Xindi space and returning to where they entered.

Luck can only go so far, and it seemed the patrol the Tomcat escaped the first time around arrived in the sector they were currently in and just missed them but a Heavy Cruiser/Light Carrier with a jury-rigged cloak at full power and warp six passing that close, brought the cloaked ship to their attention as they began to scan the area.

- Bridge -

Somers was in her Command chair, with Sterling at the Communications station, Winchester was covering tactical, Cahill was at the bridge Medical console, Aldana was covering the Science station. Walon was below decks trying to keep things calm, Taggert was on the bridge at the engineering console, Dodd was in engineering making sure things remained in working order when all hell broke loose.

“All stations report in, how are things looking?” Somers asked “I hope Sheela is enjoying her hibernation” she quipped quietly

“Hyper COMM ready Captain, SATCOM is synched. All modifications to deflector grid are ready and resonating, we are ready to implement the Inverse Tachyon Pulse. Standing by to initiate temporal pulse at your command,” Maia went through the calculations and construction thoroughly with the engineers. Jarlee’s calculations were very helpful in that regard.

Dr Cahill replied, “Medical Station is ready Captain. It was a rough ride when we came here. I suggest all decks and hands take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and the ship.”

She looked at Dr Aldana, “stay with the science section. We will deal with the injured once we are on the other side. The Science Section is the most important need right now.” Cahill intoned.

The ship shuddered, Dr Cahill hit her communications device. =/\= Sickbay prepare for casualties. We will be there when this is done; good luck. =/\=

Dr Johnson replied, =/\= got it Dr You worry about getting us home =/\= Johnson said.

Doctor Aldana tried to study the Science station. S/he wasn’t really all that well versed in it. S/he managed to bring up the scope and peered into it.

Paul now stood at the Tomcat’s Tactical station and knew that a proper Tactical Officer should be doing this, but for some reason, they were needed elsewhere. He said “All clear for the moment Captain” as he kept his eyes on his console.

With Sombra under hir feet at the hir station, Doctor Aldana double checked hir screens. “All clear captain, zero contacts.”

“Well, where the hell is that bloody fire coming from!” she said.

“Engineering reporting all systems functioning within normal parameters,” Taggert reported, as she tapped her controls. Her bangs and ponytail swished from side to side as she looked across her station, double-checking her readings. She looked the model of professionalism, even had some tasteful make-up on. “We have full warp available, the deflector is at full power to initiate the pulse, and all non-essential items are offline so that we have as much power available as necessary.”

Taggert left out what she saw on the Jeffries tubes, a small wavering in the environmental control in the tubes, which corrected itself, it seemed.

“Excellent,” pressing the internal communications button on her chair arm =/\= Somers to Dodd, what is it looking like down in engineering, is the cloak working as it should? =/\= Somers asked.

=/\= Dodd here, I can report that all is working in the green and the cloaking device still appears to be working normally as well. We will continue to have a staff member constantly monitoring the device until we are finally back in our reality. =/\= Dodd responded.

=/\= Good make sure all remains in the green Somers out =/ \= she closed the link then sat back thinking all was good, until, their easy flight out of the Xindi system was uneventful That’s when the patrol of Jem`Hadar from earlier that day came back around passing close by. Then firing upon the cloaked Tomcat which had managed to avoid the patrol earlier on in their mission when the ship was cloaked 1 light-year out from New Xindus.

“WHAT THE HELL!!” Somers loudly exclaimed as she was jolted in her seat from the hits “RED ALERT, drop cloak raise shields and fire at will” she ordered.

“Red Alert, all hands to battle stations!” Maia ordered.

Dr Cahill replied, “Shots coming from the port side. The ship is 1.5 kilometres and closing. Here are the coordinates. It is the Jem`Hadar attacking us.” She opened the communications channels she had managed to swipe while on her shuttle mission. She monitored them. “Captain they think we are New Xindi and have called for other ships to assist. We have 10 minutes before the next ship arrives. Also 3 New Xindi ships are en route in response to the Jem`Hadar ships firing on us. I suggest we get out of here fast.”

“Also, I show a weak area in the shields of the Jem`Hadar ship at the port side warp nacelle. If we hit it at the following location, we may be able to disable the warp nacelle and they would have to leave the fight or possibly be blown out of space.”

“Captain That ship knocked out the Hyper COMM we’re not going anywhere. Suggest we retrieve the Satellites, retreat then reform and destroy that battlecruiser”. Maia advised.

Somers looked at Sterling. “Did we launch the things?! I do not recall doing this,” she said.

“Yes Sir, that was part of the calibration process. We must have lost our cloak, it’s the only way we could have been detected,” Maia said.

“Here are the target coordinates,” as she sends them to the weapons officer.

Aldana looked confused, s/he wasn’t sure what s/he was doing at science if the hir boss was just going to take over the job for hir. S/he wondered if – when this was all over – if s/he should bring it up or just wait and see.

Looking at Cahill’s station then to Winchester “okay Lieutenant lock those targets in and fire at will” Somers said as the ship was being rocked like a drunken Klingon on a night of celebration at a holy festival. “Doctor gets down below and prepares sickbay” Somers added.

Dr Cahill looked up, “On it Captain. She left the Bridge and went to Sickbay.

As the Jem`Hadar patrol had been taken care of, not without damage to the Tomcat, Somers ordered the ship back to warp and heading for the point of arrival out near where Starbase 51 was in their reality, she also had the ship re-cloak, the moment they were safe.

- Sickbay -

Cahill entered sickbay; everything was ready, and she looked around. All injuries were being cared for or were already treated. She decided to go to her office. From there she could monitor what was going on better.

She pulled up her external scanners and continued to look for ways to help out till they needed her on the bridge.

Cahill hit her communication device, =/ \= Sickbay is prepared for casualties Captain. I am in my office monitoring the situation. And standing by. =/ \=

“Aye Ma’am,” replied Paul as his hands darted across the console, he continued” Now I can give’em hell for what happened to me” as he locked on to the first vessel and then fired both the ship’s weapons.

Cahill smiled, “give them something for me too Lt. All of us want to get home in one piece.”

Elsewhere-below decks…

-Counsellor’s offices-

Luuna lay in the corner of Walon’s office. She sometimes didn’t like to be left alone without anything to do, so she had agreed to keep an eye on the counselling staff including Walon and Jorie Quesjti.

Iria glanced up as Tamara, Samuel and Rhett walked in the office they each met her gaze before they stood in front of her desk, Jorie turned around and then right back to the PADDs on her desk. Iria raised her ginger-hued eyebrows slightly she sat back. “What is it you three needs?”

Tamara shook her head softly, “I just wanted to apologize for my part in making a mess of your office we got a replacement for the tea set we broke.” As she finished speaking Samuel and Rhett held out the new tea set for her to inspect.

This tea set had tiny crimson and silver Oriental dragons, and red cherry blossom blooms running along the outer edges of the cups, and saucers, the teapot was beautifully detailed with dragons a red cherry blossom tree. It was not an exact match for her original tea set but it was a very nice replacement. “I see; well thank you for putting such thought into it. I accept your apology and the new tea set.”

Tamara smiled walked over to Luuna offered a hand as Samuel and Rhett made their own apologies.

Luuna poked her head up. She inspected the offered hand and sniffed it but finding nothing edible or of value she tucked her head back in amongst the rest of her body again. Then the room shook. She perked up and was on alert looking much like a sphinx. She darted her eyes around on alert.

The new tea set tumbled to the floor smashing into pieces as Samuel and Rhett fell over, Iria scrambled around her desk. Jorie cursed on the other side of the room. Tamara nearly avoided falling over the large canine, but she did avoid it. She got to her feet carefully to avoid stepping on the dog’s paws and tail and turned to look at the others. Samuel and Rhett had fallen on the newly smashed new tea set and Iria was grabbing an emergency medical kit from the corner. Tamara shook her head as she looked over at Jorie who had a stunned look on her face as a knot formed on her forehead. “never dull around here is it?” Samuel said as he watched the new bit of small chaos playing out in the counselling offices.

Luuna yelped more out of surprise than anything else. S/he sat up quickly, pulling her front half out of the way. Then at the smell of blood, s/he went to investigate. Seeing one of the injured was being tended to, s/he went to the other and lay next to him guarding him and keeping him warm. She would lick him to help keep him conscious. She had no idea if the male blue-shirt was in any danger, she just knew what Alpha had told her to do until help arrived.
