Mission: S02 Episode 4: The Avian Flew the Cukoo's Nest (Incidental Posts)
Location: Xindaria Surface / Ruins of Ancient City

[ON]

-Xindaria Surface, ruins of the ancient city-

With all the data that Thompson was gathering of the ruins, Dodd was feeling less like an engineer and more like an archaeologist or historian. He was trying to use his engineering skills to relate the data provided in a flow chart for understanding the ruins.

Meanwhile......

To all who saw Eleonorrhea as they began to enter the shuttle, they found Eleonorrhea quite asleep in her chair, and Webb, who was fully awake, and resting as he watched the former and now disgraced Master Gunny Sergeant firmly secured in a full body magnetic restraint, and sleeping soundly after being treated by Dr Cahil down at the Depression. Whatever she gave him worked as soon as he entered the shuttle, he soon fell asleep, and now sleeping soundly the only sounds that could be heard was the barely audible chirping from the small monitor (a much smaller version of Sickbays exam bed) that was tied to Dr Cahill's Med-Tricorder.

Though Eleonorrhea appeared to be sleeping, her mind was fully awake, allowing her body to recuperate. It was a technique that she had learned from her days when she served a tour with the Marines Special Operations Group. Taught to all who were in a SOG unit, it allowed an operator to rest and get as much sleep, during long hazardous missions, and right now; it served her well.

Ensign Thompson was at another end of a structure possibly a temple, His tricorder scanned Avian Xindi DNA found on a possible console or maybe it was an altar. What he found was dried blood. He switched over to scan for life forms but all he could detect was the landing party. Switching over to scan for energy readings he found the same type of EPS power conduits leading down beneath them. The readings were, in fact, getting clearer as were the presence of Chroniton particles. The ruins of the city seemed built on tip of at least 5 different cities so far ranging back 2 million years. Matt also found evidence of technology from the T'Kon Empire, a race gone extinct from a supernova more than 600,000 years ago. In another corner of the ruins, Matt found several Guardian artefacts, possibly defunct weapons or a scanner, the remnants of a temporal stasis chamber that had been blown up more than 300 years ago, lots of carbon scoring was evident as well as echoes of Chroniton radiation long since past its half-life.

In an adjoining chamber, he found the skeletal remains of an Avian Xindi, from the scan he died of radiation poisoning, his flesh stripped to the bones from the elements. This was a temple, An Avian temple, the basic structure high off the ground and was marble obviously at one time inlaid with gold and platinum and other precious gems. The poor find of the site was because grave robbers or other xeno-archaeologists had been coming here for generations to strip mine the place. Perhaps it was pirates but found the proximity to Gorn space too dangerous. The Gorn were notorious for catching pirates and eating them. At least that's the impression the young ensign had. Matt decided to call for Dr Cahill to examine the skeletal remains.

=/\=Thompson to Dr Cahill, I found some skeletal remains. I would like you to check them out. I am at coordinates grid 135 by 53 mark 7. =/\= Matt said.

Dr Cahill replied that she would be heading over to his location and she set out towards Thompson.

Matt continued scanning searching for more artefacts and evidence.

Dodd and Tjaansz were in an old structure about 100 yards from the shuttle and found some etchings on the walls that depicted eight figures in what appeared to be federation uniforms as they all had the insignia on them and two of the figures even had a tail. They realized that the images from the caves were more than a coincidence. There had been something that happened here thousands of years ago and somehow they were involved.

One of the etchings had the same image Delfin found in the mine, of a figure looking like Dodd holding something up to a larger bird like humanoid. From what could be deciphered from some of the very ancient text, Tjaansz was able to figure out that there was an uprising of the workforce and the overlords did not like this. However, one word that was next to the repeated images of Dodd was translated as 'Savior'. The images of Dodd seemed to position him as a being to be worshipped.

Dodd had found a tablet that was a list of text. A few of the words that could be translated come out to be a list of races or such as one of them was Gorn, and another was Klingon.

Tjaansz was able to piece some of the images together and came up with a group of workers had a revolt against their masters and that one person lead them to freedom. The etchings of the Starfleet insignia were used to label the images of the away team as "Freedom Bringers" or something to that effect. The etching was a mix of many different cultures, some of which were from the Federation, but ancient enough that they don't fully translate.

Dodd and Tjaansz were needing to take a break so they headed for the shuttle. K'Muss was already in the shuttle compiling data from all the tricorders and other devices. Thompson needed some equipment to get a better reading so he was heading toward the shuttle and knew he would see Dr Cahill as he was heading that direction.

Suddenly once all the away team members not in shuttle were within a 20-yard radius of the shuttle, There was a blinding flash of light and a sinking feeling came over all the members of the away team. Derrigo, on the other hand, was sound asleep so did not really feel any ill effects.

All of the away team members were knocked unconscious and the large number of chronotons in the ruins opened a vortex that sucked the shuttle and all the members of the away team along with 6 Gorn who were within the 20-yard radius into a point in time approximately three thousand years in the planet's past.
