- Medical - USS Tomcat -
Jasmine and Maia entered medical, with Jasmine looking around "oh Doctor K'Tel" She signalled a young doctor, who looked up and smiled as she saw who was calling her. She walked over to them.
"Hello Ma'am," Akuhl said. "Something wrong?"
She looked at her with a smile "myself and the Commander here need to look like these aliens here" Jasmine said handing the doctor a Padd with the visual recordings of the species.
Akuhl's brow furrowed in concentration as she studied the padd and then looked up.
"Ma'am, the eyes can be altered with simple contact lenses," she said. "But as for the skin colouring, do you want it applied to your whole body or just the areas that will be visible?"
"Full body doctor, we cannot take any chances," Jasmine said.
With that, the doctor left to go get ready and the two women took a separate bio-bed and sat down.
"So Maia, you ready to go blue in colour?" Jasmine asked with a smile.
"It's not so much the disguises that worry me, it's the fact that we know almost nothing about the culture down there. I recommend we stay away as much as possible, besides we don't want to contaminate their culture the prime directive is in force". Maia said.
Looking at Sterling with a mischievous smile "C'mon Maia, where is your spirit of adventure?" She jokingly asked, then more somberly "I agree until we can garner more information on their culture, we best keep as much to ourselves as possible, at least we will be able to understand them, as the universal Translator has been updated with the latest translation matrix's." Somers said looking at her First Officer.
"I assure you, Captain, my spirit of adventure is sound. It's just that I have many more questions about this planet that I have been able to find answers too. Also, my intuition tells me we are walking into danger. We don't have all the pieces to this puzzle or what the puzzle is even supposed to look like. I don't believe these are anywhere near the development level needed to engage in the first contact, and any contact that we have with these people will most likely result in some sort of contamination of the prime directive. Usually, when we engage in a mission of this type we have a clear target or goal in mind. We are looking for an anomaly in a species that we know very little about. I support any decision you make, I just feel a little trepidation".
Jasmine looked across at Maia "concerns noted Commander, but our job is recon, we can get information and such that ship sensors cannot, that is why we are going down, but we will try to keep our interactions to a minimum."
"Understood Captain, The planetary survey team is also working on getting us better information. There are transmissions they are listening too. Radio frequencies only, though. They have already obtained a good translation matrix for the universal translator". Maia replied.
Soon after doctor, K'Tel returned with the tools required to make both Command officers look like the locals.
"There should be only some mild tingling during the procedure," Akuhl said. "Who would like to go first?"
"I will doctor," Maia said. "Does this stuff breathe and will it provide any protection from higher levels of radiation"?
"Yes Ma'am," Akuhl said. "The only question will be if you want to stay that way once the mission is over."
Looking at the Doctor "We would like our skin colour back after this, we are just lucky enough that they have the basic human frame as a human and features, otherwise they are alien. Will you be able to return our skin pigmentation doctor?" Jasmine asked looking at the Klingon.
"Of course, Ma'am," Akuhl said as she prepared a hypospray.
Then Jasmine watched as the doctor injected Maia with something and her skin began to turn blue and her hair to a dark blue, even though there were a few patches of pink left for all intents Maia's skin now looked like the natives. So engrossed was she that Jasmine jumped when she felt the hypo press against her neck and the tingling began, she watched as her skin also began to turn blue, during this process tailored colour contacts were brought to them.
"So Maia what do you think of your new skin colour?" she asked then looked at Akhul "Ah those our contacts I see!"
"This feels sort of strange actually I can feel my skin secreting an oily substance. It smells funny". Maia replied.
"Yes Ma'am," Akuhl said. "They have a mild adhesive on the back so you don't have to worry about them slipping off at the wrong time."
"Where are you going to conceal the universal translator, doctor"? Maia asked.
"I had a replicator modify it to appear as jewellery worn by the locals," Akuhl said.
Jasmine looking at the items smiled and looked up at the Doctor "Excellent doctor, much appreciated" Jasmine then smelled something funky, she sniffed around the room then looked and remembered what Maia said and sniffed her armpit "okay that is one funky smelling oily substance these people creates as a by productDoctor, you might want to use some nasal numbing agent adjusted for this smell" Jasmine said.
"I could do that Ma'am, but it would impair your sense of smell," Akuhl said. "But if you're willing to make that trade-off, I can do it."
"I think I will suffer through it might help me understand the natives a bit more. I definitely don't want any of my senses dulled. Who knows we might actually learn something from these people. Perhaps they excrete pheromones or possibly communicate partially via scent. Will this stuff you injected us with change scent by our emotions Dr K'tel"? Maia asked.
"Not that I'm aware of," she said.
Somers looked at Sterling with a raised eyebrow "I am game if you are Maia" Jasmine smiled.
"Fine as soon as you are ready we beam down to the surface" ,Maia said.
Nodding in agreement "Okay then, let's get to wardrobe, the quartermaster should have our outfits ready for us" Jasmine said then looked at the Doctor. "You do excellent work doctor" she caught her blue skin, black/blue hair and yellow eyes in a mirror.
"Thank you, ma'am," she said. "Hopefully that will be the limit of my expertise needed for this mission."
With that both left medical and headed to clothing stores.
