Location: USS Tomcat - Counselor's Office
Timeline: Mission Day 10+1

The counselors' offices were close to sickbay, so Akuhl managed to not get lost.
The nurse sitting at the reception desk looked up as she entered.
"Help you, Ma'am?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm Dr. K'Tel, I'd like to speak with a counselor if one is available," she said.
The receptionist consulted his padd.
"All of them are currently with patients...wait, Dr. Walon just finished with a patient, I'll see if she's available," he said as he pressed a button on his desk.
Iria set asice her PaDD and replied to the receptionist's summons, "Yes?"
"Doctor K'Tel would like to see you if you're available."
"Oh of course send them in please." Iria replied lightly though privately she was surprised usually other doctors put off seeing her or another counselor until last minute.
Akuhl strode in and extended her hand.
"Hello, Doctor," she said. "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice. I'm Doctor Akuhl K'Tel, I just transferred over to the Tomcat."
"Welcome aboard and it is a slow day so far today so no problem in seeing you now." she said as she shook the offered hand. "Make yourself at home." she said nodded to one of the chairs or couch if it was a preference. Her office was decorated in a cool mint green hue along with a few splashes of colour from the few plants and paintings along the walls. The paintings were various ones she liked the look of and none by her personally, but still offering something different to look at.
Akuhl nodded in gratitude and took a seat.
"Would you like anything from the replicator or perhaps a cup of fresh tea?" she offered as the newest member of the crew got settled in her office.
"Yes, I'll have some water," Akuhl said. "Thank you."
iria got the glass of water and picked up her tea on the way back to the seats. She offered Akuhl the water first, before she got settled with her tea. "Where are you joining us from Akuhl?" she asked lightly curious of the newest addition to the crew.
"The Schweitzer, a science vessel," Akuhl said. "There wasn't much need for me there, just the occasional minor injury or illness, although it did give me plenty of time to brush up on my xenobiology. Anyway, I came here for some advice."
"Sure I am happy to help, what do you need advice on?" she asked softly her curiosity kindled anew.
"It's one of the other Klingons assigned to the ship," she said. "The problem isn't me and him, it's him and the other Klingons. He works in Engineering and he seems quite happy with his career, but the other Klingons--specifically the fighter pilots--pick on him.
"The warrior spirit is very strong in my people, even if we all aren't warriors by profession," she continued. "I am a doctor, but I celebrate the Day of Honor, I pray to Kahless every day and I practice with a bat'leth.
Iria nodded as she listened, to Akuhl K'Tel speaking.
"But this other Klingon, he was raised by humans," she said. "He has taken a human name and carries himself like a human. The fighter pilots tease him to try to provoke the warrior within him and they will keep doing it until he shows them.
"He doesn't like being teased, but he doesn't want to learn about being a Klingon, and to me that's just leading him down a road of unnecessary pain.
"My question is, how can I get him to change his mind?" she asked. "I'm not looking to turn him into a warrior, that would make me a hypocrite. I just want to teach him enough so that he can deal with those other Klingons and get them to leave him alone."
"It is not up to you to change his mind if he does not want to learn about being Klingon that is his right. If he does not like being teased he will need to learn to either let the words or gestures pass over him like water or he will find another way to deal with it. If you want to spark his interest you might just introduce him to the subtle parts of the culture first and then if and only if he askes more about it them show him mroe but to try and force the issue is only going to bring you both pain and hurt feelings." Iria said evenly. "If the situation bothers him he needs to come and talk about it and perhaps we can get the ones messing with him to come in as well. In the mean time I would give him the support you can." Iria said with a firm nod.
Feeling like she had gotten all she could from this session K'Tel nodded her thanks and up and left the Counsellors office.
