- Bridge -

With all things running smoothly on the bridge the Captain looked around the bridge "okay people eventually information will begin coming into your various sections, keep on top of it and remember to send copies to Intelligence, the rest note what you can and flag things and then file it away, anyone has any questions?" The Captain asked.

Both Donovan and Armitage had no questions, but the Captain's Yeoman looked nervous, she had some basic bridge console training, but she never thought that she would have to use it, but here she was sitting at Commander Sterlings original science station the only NCO on the bridge, such an occurrence did not happen often, but her Captain was different.

"Understood captain I will stay on top of my game, " Martinson said chuckling.

This was Paul's first serious watch as a Security officer taking his place as the main bridge officer at the station, He stated, "Security and Tactical are Go Ma'am," as he knew that he was being assessed.

*looking at the troubled officer* "thank you, Lieutenant, passive sensors only, Mr Martinson keep on top of any flight changes and make allowances please as this is a Heavy Cruiser, not a fighter so you will need to anticipate to react quickly if needed.

"Copy that Passive sensors," replied Paul as he set the tactical sensors to the passive settings, as he knew that the security personnel had also been set to minimal movements at all points on the ship to avoid being detected.

"Yes, ma'am that is an understatement. She handles like a buffalo in the water", Martinson said.

With that, she opens a channel to the lower decks =/\= Bridge to Engineering how is my engine looking down there Mr Nelson? =/\= Somers asked.

=/\= Ma'am, we are set and ready for anything. Engine efficiency is at one hundred per cent and full power is available to all departments. Sensors are also operating at full capacity and we have team members on standby for any emergency. Nelson out. =/\=

=/\= Excellent, keep it up =/\= then she changes to Medical =/\= Medical, how goes preventive measures to hinder the Bluegills? =/\= she asked.

Dr Cahill responded, =/\= Things are going great Captain. I have Engineering installing a Delta Radiation scanner in all transporter rooms and also a larger scale one to scan the shuttles when they return. And am working on something to be able to better defend against the Bluegills as we encounter them.=/\=

=/\= Excellent Doctor, keep up the good work, Somers out =/\= with that she closed the link and looked over to Armitage "Lucy any word from the science teams, yet?" she asked the nervous Master Chief who was out of her element.

"Nothing yet Captain" Armitage responded sitting up stiffly.

"Major Donovan, anything from Colonel Somers?" The Captain asked, she guessed the answer would be the same, and she was correct.

"Nothing yet Captain, but both of the teams would not long have landed, they will be unable to rush things if they wish to maintain their cover," the tall Marine said as the Captain nodded Donovan looked over to Lucy "Chief relax, you are going to do yourself an injury sitting up so tense like that, no one on the bridge or this ship thinks any less of you after all of us were green to bridge duty at the time," S'arila said and Lucy gave her a nervous smile, but seemed to relax a little.

"Now it is down to waiting for the teams to send up their first burst transmissions," the Captain said sitting back in her chair.

John hated to play waiting games. The tension can get so thick, you can slice it with a knife. He knew Serina was okay, but this whole thing put him on edge.

Ensign Thompson had bridge duty at the time. He had finally passed his bridge qualification training only a week ago. He was the stand-in for Commander Sterling. He was a science two, scanning for cloaked ships or any other anomaly such as freighter's leaving the planet's surface or ships coming into the system. So far none was to be had.

=/\= Security Team to Tomcat, just landed beginning the investigation, will send data soon, out =/\= Colonel Somers said.

The Captain looked around and shrugged, "what do you want me to do, she is a marine!"

"I am saying nothing," S'arila Donovan said her body vibrating with held back laughter and she could feel the look of daggers the Captain was giving her.

The ship defences were in place. Now Dr Cahill started working closer to find a way to weaponize the isoboromine in the Bluegills. Dr Cahill left the Holodeck quickly as she returned to SickBay. Dr K'Tel looked up and smiled. "Good to see you back boss. Hope the research went well.? Dr Cahill replied, "It went great Dr K'Tel, I just need to finalize my report to be able to present it to the Captain."

On the bridge the Captain was getting bored, she hated waiting for games and during these slow times she thought back all those years ago when she changed her Marine uniform for Operations Colours, then Red for Command when she was given command of the Tomcat, sometimes she missed the days of being a Marine, this was back before the 95th Rifles were reactivated, she sighed heavily and tapped the communications button on her chair arm.

=/\= Somers to Cahill, do we have a progress report Commander? =/\= she asked.

=/\= Dr Cahill here, We have a plan that may work on the Bluegills without causing any problems to the host or any Trills in the nearby area. In a holosuite program we ran it was proven to be a good choice. If we deliver .50 milligrams of Subtamine with a dart the Bluegills will leave the hosts and once they do we can follow them back to the Queen. *then added* There are limited side effects and in most cases no side effects =/\=

The Captain responded =/\=Good to know Doctor, hopefully, the separate side mission I gave to our new CIO and our CEO will locate the hive queen, but refine it doctor and make sure the security measure works, then when we are away from this planet send the recipe and findings to Starfleet HQ and Starfleet Medical =/\=

Dr Cahill replied, =/\=Understood Captain. I will continue as was doing. =/\=

=/\= Excellent, keep me updated Doctor, bridge out =/\= Somers responded and closed the link then looked at those on the bridge. "Lucy anything from the Science Team?" She asked her Yeoman and looked at Donovan who was facing away from the console "you Major, anything from the Security team on Galen IV?" she asked.

"Nothing from the science team yet Captain," Armitage said.

Checking the console briefly "nothing from the Colonel's team either Captain" S'arila responded and shrugged.

Dr Cahill and Dr K'Tel took care of all patients going into and out of Sick Bay. Between patients, Dr Cahill continued her research on dealing with the Bluegills. She was certain that her plan would work.

John was trying to keep his mind off of what if's, what else can go wrong, and things like that when one plays the waiting game. Watching his console, he made minute changes and course corrections to keep the Tomcat behind the planet and out of sight.

Parker stepped on to the bridge and walked to the security panel, he had gotten sick and had been confined to his quarters. Upon receiving clearance from the CMO he returned to his duty station.

At the Communications station, Donovan sat bolt upright "Security Team is sending their report up, receiving and decrypting" the Major said.

It was a moment, but the transmission finally stopped "well Major?" the Captain asked.

Turns around to look at the Captain "Well in brief Captain there were two bombs, one went off and the other Sergeant Major Kildare managed to defuse it, apparently, the thing had two fail-safes for the main fail-safe, all were disarmed apparently if it had gone off the explosion would have destroyed a larger area, but the parts were from the black market, there was a mix of Romulan tech and Orion Syndicate tech, so it would seem that the Syndicate might be infected to some extent too" the Major reported "Oh and the shuttle will be returning shortly" she added.

"Hmm. Okay, Major send a copy to Starfleet, all our data on what is happening here and that data to Cardassia Prime" the Captain said and got a bad feeling she looks at Parker "Cody bring the ship to Yellow Alert *looks to Markinson* "Lieutenant have the impulse ready to get us out of here, I have a bad feeling, the moment all teams are aboard including Lieutenant's Dodd and Walon take us out of range of the moon, keeping it between us and the planet" she said.

"Yes, Captain" S'arila replied and got to work.

“Aye, Captain,” Cody replied with a focused look on his face, his men were down there escorting the away team. With the press of a button, the overhead announced “Yellow Alert,” as his console display adjusted to the new mission parameters. The weapons display showed weapons ready but not armed, and shields were now up. A few moments later as the onboard security mustered to their awaiting areas he spoke again. “ Captain, shields are up, weapons are on standby but not armed, and security personnel are now at the armouries throughout the ship. Weapons will not be issued until the red alert is given.”

"Thank you, Cody" the Captain responded, now it was just a waiting game.

"You got it, Captain, warming them up now, come on Serina bring them home safely," he said all in the same sentence. "Captain, as a precaution, you want Alert 5 ready to fly?" he added, plotting the escape course.

"Put the alert fighters on heightened alert, I hope we will not have to launch them, but one can never tell in such situations" she answered Markinson

"Yes ma'am", Martinson said and immediately contacted the flight deck. =/\= Alert 5 man your fighters. This is not a drill. Both fighters at heightened alert. Squadron Raiders stand by ready to deploy=/\= he said. Watching his helm console, the notification of readiness flashed. oO Hmm........less than two minutes Oo "Captain, fighters ready ma'am" he said smiling.

*Looking at Sickle* "Excellent Lieutenant, I am impressed they were ready so quickly" Somers said then was alerted to a shuttle arriving.

"Captain, Colonel Somers shuttle is returning, they are requesting clearance to dock," S'arila said.

"Good, contact Commander Cahill, I want them given a medical before being allowed past the shuttle bay" the Captain ordered.

"Yes, Captain" S'arila responded knowing that such precautions were a necessity in such instances she opened a link first to the shuttle then to Medical. =/\= Tomcat to Shuttle, permission to land granted, remain in the shuttle bay until you have been cleared by Medical =/\= the Major said.

=/\= Affirmative Bridge, Somers out =/\= the Colonel responded.

S'arila then contacted Medical =/\= Donovan to Cahill =/\=

=/\=Cahill here, What is up, Major? =/\=

=/\= Get a Medical Team to the shuttle bay, the Security team is waiting for you, the Captain wants them to go through a Medical before being released =/\= S'arila said.

Dr Cahill replied,=/\= On my way have security remove all unnecessary personnel from that shuttle bay. One my team is in no one leaves or enters and I want a force field activated around it till I give the ok to release the personnel.=/\=

"Dr K-Tel you have Sick Bay till I return," Doctor Cahill said to K'Tel

Dr K-Tel replied, "Understood Dr Cahill. Good Luck."

Dr Cahill was out the door with here medical packs and also a special pack she set up. Once in shuttle Bay, Dr Cahill set up and then went to the head of security in the shuttle bay. "Are all unnecessary personnel out of the shuttle bay Lieutenant?" She asked.

K'Tel smiled at Cahill "all taken care of Doctor" he announced,

Dr Cahill hit her communications device, =/\= Bridge this is Doctor Cahill, we have activated the forcefield and do not lower it till I tell you to. Have the shuttle land when ready. =/\=

=/\= Shuttle is already coming into land Doctor, let me know when they are cleared, bridge out =/\= Major Donovan replied.

=/\= Understood Major =/\= Replied Cahill.

Suddenly Lucy chirped up "Captain tight-beam from Commander Sterling message reads that she will report when she and her team are back on board as things are touchy with her location," Armitage said.

"Thank you Chief," the Captain said and looked at Markinson "Lieutenant launch the alert fighters with instructions to remain behind the moon while they circle our perimeter," she said.

"Alert 5 launch now, remain hidden behind the moon until further orders. A tight circle of ships perimeter", John said. Watching the board, the fighters launched cleanly and stayed in tight as ordered. "Captain alert 5's launched and on the station as ordered," he finished saying.

"Excellent, direct them to concentrate on our rears, the last thing I want is for some Orions to show up and spoil things as they are fond of doing" the Captain added. "Lucy any further updates from the Science Away Team and Lieutenant's Dodd and Walon?" she asked looking at her Yeoman who seemed to have relaxed a little.

"Understood", he said switching to the fighter frequency. "Alert 5 fighters maintain vigilance on the rear of Tomcat and shuttles. Watch for enemy ships especially Orions, Martinson out", he said closing the channel.

"Nothing Captain, as far as we know they are still on the planet" Armitage reported dutifully.

Jasmine simply nodded "Cody focus our tactical sensors direct and both Port and Starboard aft," she said looking over at Cody who was at the tactical station.

"Sensors targeted by phasers, torpedoes are on standby, ready to fire on your command," Cody replied.

"According to Alert 5, nothing is happening on our rear. All clear so far," Martinson said smiling as he watched the monitor.

"Understood, we must be cautious as there is also a renegade Orion Slaver out there and I do not want her dropping in at an unexpected moment, Helm is prepared to move the ship forward," the Captain said.

"Understood, we will be ready to boogie in a nanosecond captain," John said smiling.

=/\=Sterling to Tomcat, mission accomplished returning to the ship=/\=

At the communications Console =/\= Understood Commander, haste to ship =/\= Major Donovan said.

Hearing that Serina was going to return made him extremely happy but worried as well. There were more what if's going through his mind again. =/\=Martinson to Alert fighters watch your sensors the second shuttle is incoming=/\= he said quickly.

Donovan turned to report the communications to her Captain and stopped mouth open as the Captain held a hand up.

"I heard S'arila, good news, notify Commander Cahill to check them for any infection before allowing them out of the shuttlebay," Somers said.

"Yes, Captain" S'arila responded and faced the communications console and opened a channel =/\= Bridge to Cahill =/\=

=/\= Commander Sterling's shuttle will be docking soon, the Captain wants you to do the same and make sure they are clear =/\= S'arila said.

=/\= Sterling to Tomcat we are off, feel free to shoot down anything that lifts off that planet =/\= Maia said.

*giggling as she pressed the button* =/\= Understood Commander, out =/\= she responded extreme humour in her voice, the moment she closed the link another opened, the security team it seemed had just landed.

Cahill replied, =/\= Cahill to Bridge on my way to shuttle Bay with my team. =/\= Once in the shuttle Bay she quickly took care of the scan of the shuttle and all personnel on board. =/\= Cahill to Bridge, all personnel and the shuttle is clear =/\= Major Donovan announced.

=/\= Thank you, Doctor, allow the crew to return to their posts asap =/\= The Captain said.

With that, the Captain closed the link and turned her attention to things that were starting to happen on the bridge, soon the regular officers would take over the stations some of the relief officers were manning.
