-USS Tomcat, Command Air Group (CAG) Office –
Entering the Tomcat's fighter group command offices, Lieutenant JG Hawksley wondered if the 36 Gryphon class fighters were nearby. Leland sincerely was interested in meeting with Lieutenant Donovan, as Captain Somers told him, Serina was the utmost authority on the Akira class flight control specs and operations.
Having an inside ear to someone who had operated the most hours onboard the Tomcat, he wanted to pick the Lieutenant's brain for information. How agile would he expect the ability of the Combat Cruiser to handle vectors and interceptor speeds? How has the Tomcat handled skirmishes in the past, and what has she learned about its systems? Sure, he had been on countless simulations since his assignment to the Akira class vessel; however, it was not the same as real-life experience in hours.
Reaching the CAG Office, he chimed the outer doorway and tugged his uniform in place. Leland had chimed the doorway, acknowledging his presence.
As the door chime went off, Serina dropped the coffee mug, "Damn it!" Shaking her head, she replicated another and yelled, "Enter!" Cleaning up the broken glass, she came face to face with a young Lieutenant. "Oh my....can I help you?" she said, putting the broken pieces in the waste receptacle.
oO Hot… Damn, Redhead!! Oo "Uh. Maybe I could help you, Lieutenant Donovan." Hawksley motioned to the broken mug.
Leland stood tall at the entranceway, his hands at ready, behind his back. "Lieutenant JG Hawksley, Ma'am." He cleared his throat. "Captain Somers has highly recommended me to see you regarding your hours and experience at the Helm of the TomCat. I have many questions. If this is a bad time, I can come back?" Leland gestured.
"Oh no, I have time for the moment. You have many questions for me, as far as flying the ship, how, she handles, her good and bad points. And yes I am a redhead," she said laughing. "I am pleased to meet you" she added. Sitting down with the coffee mug, she pointed to a chair in an effort to make him feel more comfortable.
Hawksley’s face flushed one of horror and hilarity all at once. “You can… Read my mind.” He questioned. “Oh, god.” He swallowed. The once confident, stoic officer now found his self looking around and at his feet. Anywhere except for the incredible Lieutenant Donovan.
“Well, then.” He grinned. “Yes, Yes, I am here to speak about your fine… Abilities, Ma’am.” He addressed. “Word has it. Your middle name is Reaper?” He lifted an eyebrow with intrigue.
"Yes "Reaper" is my call sign. Now I am not a Betazoid but your facial expression gave you away," Serina said laughing lightly.
“May I take a seat?” He gestured, wanting to relax and take this all in. “And. Yes, you ARE a redhead.” Leland laughed all the luckier.
"Please take a seat and relax. I don't bite" she added. "Can I get you something, coffee, tea, sandwich, snack?" she added.
Hawksley took his seat and sat upward. He clasped his large hands together. "Thank you, I am good." He shook his head regarding the offered pleasantries.
"Lieutenant Donovan. It seems with your hour's experience on this vessel, I have a lot to learn from you. The Akira class is known to be fickle in itself." He stated. "Suffice, I can't learn everything from federation tutorials and holodeck simulations. Could you tutor me…?" He swallowed, now knowing how uncomfortable it would be, Donovan, knowing all the more that Leland had admired the ‘Reaper’ "Of course, with any spare time, your willing." Hawksley cocked his head slightly to the left in thought. "I'm certain I could make it up to you in some way?" Hawksley offered.
Laughing, Serina looked at the young man, "I don't mind tutoring you. When you are not on duty come see me and we can do this in a simulation of our helm. There I can teach you the 'fickleness' of the Tomcatin real-time so you get her to feel. Is that agreeable with you?" Serina inquired.
"Very." He stated, letting his eyes linger on her orange long hair and incredibly addictive smile. "I cannot promise I won't throttle the sim, just for a little fun though..." He winked.
"Just as long as you don't throttle the ship and do some fancy turn on her z-axis. I can but I haven't done it to this ship and I don't advise it either. She will flip, and what isn't locked down will go flying. She id to big. Now a smaller class, yes".......whispering, "I've done it with the galaxy and nebula class," Serina said chuckling. "The simulation will react the same as the ship herself so what you do in the sim will have the same repercussions," she added.
"Speaking to you is already paying off. Objects flying, z-axis rotational throttle, equals no." He tapped the side of his forehead, intoning he was thinking. "Thank you for your time Lieutenant." He smiled, as he then got up. "I will be calling."
"My door is always open, let me know when you want simulation time and I will set it up," Serina said smiling.
With that Hawksley had gotten up from his seat and then exited the room, happy that Serina was happy to help him.
