Lieutenant JG Hawksley had finished his duty on the bridge of the Tomcat, having had a relatively routine shift. He was piloting the Tomcat to UnexSys 659842. To say that Leland was apprehensive would be an understatement. After the meeting with Colonel Somers, he was a bit taken back at the Mission Directives.

Letting those thoughts belay for the moment, he was focused on his meeting with the Counsellor. He was interested in what she would ask and what they would talk about. He assumed the general topics of stress and duty. Hawksley was someone who could take the stress and let it go. He enjoyed exerting his accumulated tension in the Gym, as on any starship like most Crew.

Arriving at the Counsellor’s Office, he allowed a slight smile form showing that he was somewhat at ease, which was truthful for the moment. He had tapped his large index finger at the keypad to the doorway indicating that Hawksley was there for his appointment.

Lamia looked at the time, impressed that Leland was dead on time for his psych evaluation. It was nice when people showed up on time and didn’t have to be chased. “Come in ...” She looked towards the door.

Hawksley had walked in and stood at the doorway. He saluted a quick one-off. "Hello Lieutenant... I mean, Counsellor."

“Lieutenant Hawksley, please take a seat and make yourself at home. If you’d like the replicator is available for you to use.” Lamia smiled warmly. “Do you mind if I call you Leland? It just saves using a rank all the time.”

"Thank you, I am good." Hawksley took the offered seat. "Of Course, Leland's the name, Ma'am!" He had positioned sitting upward, and placed his large hands together in his lap." Leland quirked a smile. "Hey, you've got a nice office!"

“Thank you” Lamia smiled. “I like my creature comforts. So how are you settling in?”

Leland had breathed inward and settled. "I feel pretty good." He nodded. "I think I am as settled in as I can be. It's a different feel being on a ship full of SFMC's. But I like it, good people, Ma'am."

"How have you been settling in Lamia?" Hawksley asked, interested.

“It’s been stressful on and off but I’ve come to think of the ship and it’s crew as my family.” Lamia smiled warmly.

Leland nodded. He had found the same. Everyone was profesional with a profound collective sense. "I feel that as well. I guess that has made it a lot easier to settle in myself."

“That’s good to hear” Lamia smiled warmly. “You do realise that this ship tends to be selected for the toughest of jobs, it’s part and parcel of what the Tomcat and her crew are. Do you feel you can handle that?”

Leland cocked his head towards the right. "Handle it?" He looked at the Counsellor. If he wasn't in a Counselling session he may be offended. "I feel I am more than capable of handling it. I may be learning the Akira specs, but I learn on the fly... That's who I am. A Fly Boy." Hawksley had shrugged, and smiled a bit.

“I had a feeling you’d say that” Lamia grinned. “It wasn’t aiming to offend you so I’ll apologise if I did. I need to know that you don’t have any concerns, should any arise then you know where to find either Iria or myself.”

Leland may have been cocky at times, but at least he knew he was. "Besides Donovan, I may be one of the most qualified to handle the Tomcat at the Helm. Ma'am." He respectfully nodded. "No offense." He leaned back, breathing inward a bit.

"The Colonel is aware of my prior HCO experience... Many missions in this Lieutenant JG Galaxy Class, Intrepid Class landings. Sirus IV. I landed the USS Trenton on three landing thrusters and lateral distortions... Decent on an Oceanic planet." He paused. "Sorry. I like to brag."

“Nothing wrong with that!” Lamia grinned. “As long as you don’t let it go to your head. Everyone needs something they can show pride in.”

"Yes, Ma'am." Hawksley stated.

Lamia nodded and smiled. “You’re quite down to Earth, as the saying goes, I’m happy to give you a high flying psych evaluation too!” She grinned.

Leland had eyed the Counsellor. She certainly wasn't that bad looking at all. He enjoyed the female form. To state that she wore her uniform well, would be un understatement.

He paused, "Well. I want you to know, Counsellor, likewise. If you ever need anything at all. Just give me a ring! Don't be a stranger, Ma'am." Hawk winked.

Lamia smiled the biggest smile yet, she had to admit Hawksley was a charmer. She had no doubt he’d be popular with the ladies onboard ship. “I’ll remember and I promise.”
