- USS Scavenger NX 9000 – McKinley Station –

The moment the shuttle landed on the Scavenger and notified that it was secure the ship went through the motions of disconnecting from McKinley Station. The ship when clear went to warp 1 while in the Sol system when it cleared the Oort cloud the ship went to warp and as it passed Wolf 359 it had safely managed warp 9.995 Cruise speed. On the bridge of the ship, the Captain looked at the Conn officer.

“Ready trans-warp Lieutenant, start off at a low level and slowly work up,” the Captain said.

“Yes, Sir” the Conn Officer responded.

Below decks, the Marines were stretching their legs when a green light flashed and over the ships tannoy.

All felt a little lag as the inertial dampeners were slow to keep up, but it did not stop feelings of nausea from all on the ship, after all, it was the first Starfleet trans-warp flight ever done. After the initial effects had worn off Alex ordered the marines back to the shuttle, it was safe to assume that they would get there sooner than expected. Suddenly Alex was thrown forward as the ship dropped from trans-warp, in an unceremonious fashion she went flying to the ground.

“AAAAIIIIEEEE” *THUMP* “Ow why that dirty no good for nothing ships Captain!!” she began then devolved into her native tongue and spoke so fast the computer decided not to translate as some of the words she was using the computer refused to translate. As Alex picked herself up off the floor she felt her cheeks flush as her troops were laughing at her until she gave then a look that all had seen and few of them had ever experienced, but it shut them up.

As she walked onto the shuttle, she tapped her Commbadge.

=/\= Yes Marine Captain? =/\= this was unusual a marine officer contacting the Captain directly when it was not really warranted.

=/\= Next time kindly warn people when you are going to drop from trans-warp so that they can grab something, will you!! =/\= Alex said and she was not a happy camper.

On the bridge the Captain looked at his First Officer and muted the connection so Alex could not hear “Commander who the hell is that marine and who does she think she is, using that tone?” he asked.

The first officer checked the list and gulped as he looked back at the Captain “Marine Captain Alexandria Somers commander of the 2nd SAS MACO squad on the shuttle we took on a fully qualified combat vet and shuttle pilot and Daughter to Samuel Somers ambassador to the Klingon Empire” he said.

The Captain had heard of this Marine Captain and of her experience and knew she never pulled on her family to get out of the messes she usually got into, but the woman’s temper was as fiery as much as her hair was a deep true red in colour. He remembered that he had her on mute taking the Comms off mute.

In the cockpit of the shuttle, both women share a surprised look “did he sound different, or is it me?” Donovan asked.

“No, it is not you S’arila he sounded subdued *shrugging* never mind let's get going” Alex finished and when the ramp was closed lifted off and left the shuttle bay and headed over to a freighter which immediately allowed the shuttle to dock.

As the shuttle personnel were not Starfleet trained they were slower than normal, but still, they secured the shuttle down adequately, then the ship left the outer Galen system and went to warp, they would briefly drop from warp 1 light-year outside of the New Hampton colony system. Back on earth, SFMC got word from the Captain of the USS Scavenger that the package had safely been delivered and hand been handed to the waiting transport.

Back on the shuttle the Marines relaxed and brought out the cards and split into two teams and began to play poker, Alex and S’arila joined them in this pastime some synthehol was also replicated, they knew the freighter was not as fast as the Scavenger so they figured what the hell!
