Mission:
S03 Ep 04 Captive State Part 1 (Incidental)
Location: Deck 7
Timeline: Prior to Journey Home Post
[ON]
Mazal was now a 1st Lieutenant, and it was something she was proud of, she was elated about it but now there was something else that she felt she needed to do. And it in her mind was to meet her fellow Marines, besides the ones she had met before. Earlier she had transferred here to the USS Tomcat and was the XO. She sent out a message to the marines to meet her in the largest area of the marine country, Deck 7.
The message she sent out was "95th Rifles, assemble in the meeting area, this is Lieutenant Falk, Marine XO"
She went to that area to await the arrival of the Marines.
One of the first to arrive was Anlon, a recent addition to the 95th. He hadn't been far; he had been reading the latest edition of Defence Weekly in his bunk when the summons came. He set down his PADD, fixed his uniform, and went into the meeting area. He filed to the right spot and stood at attention with his fellow Rifles.
Lilliana was just wrapping up getting herself something for her morning sickness in the marine medical room, when the call came across, making sure everything was tidy she made her way to the meeting room.
Jasmine was sitting on her bunk busy thinking what to do for entertainment whilst things were quiet, with the summons to report to the meeting area she headed straight there.
1st Lieutenant Eleonorrhea (Butch) Delfin, 1st Lieutenant Josefina (Joe) Macapuno, and Sergeant Major Bronco (Bronc) Hardway almost all arrived at the same time.
There were some mixed feelings there, Bronc still hadn't gotten into testing this new Marine XO out on her fighting skills, other things had just gotten in the way. He had mentioned to Jackson that he'd like to see what she had skill-wise, as he had wondered just slightly if she was more than a pretty face. Of course, Captain Jackson had allayed his misgivings just slightly. He would admit that the woman hadn't gotten there by her looks, she had to be tough, strong and skilled to get this far. He glanced at the two ladies who answered the call of Lieutenant Falk.
"What do you think?" Bronc asked looking at Delfin and Macapuno.
Joe looked towards where Mazal stood on a slightly raised platform. "Well, I can't truly say much as I've not spoken to her. I've seen her from afar, only exchanged some nice greetings and that is all."
Butch aka Eleonorrhea gave a hard scowl at Bronc. "Now don't you be messing with Lieutenant Falk, she earned where she's at."
Bronc looked back at Delfin and slightly frowned. "I know what you can do, I want to see what she can do. Captain Jackson told me that I would have to find out and seemed rather confident that she had skills. I just want to know what."
Delfin just gave a sardonic laugh. "If the Captain has confidence in her skills, then just be prepared for some whoop ass."
The three of them got into line to await the others. More and more marines arrived, having questions as well.
2nd Lieutenant Goodwin arrived and made her way to the spot she typically takes which is always the third row and third spot from the outer edge closest to the most interior wall as it was just a quirk of hers always to try to sit or stand in the same general location of any gathering. She was curious about the gathering as most marines got their orders on the fly.
Both S'arila and Chris were chatting away with 1st Lieutenant Jerok he was your standard-looking Vulcan as they entered the gathering area, Kildare was tall, but he still had to look up at the Major who wore her specially designed glasses to allow her to see like a normal person, but in black and white, her glasses were rose-tinted, her hair was up in a high ponytail and the mark between her eyes could be seen. Like all Rifle Officers, both the Major and Jerok wore the Rifle Officers Bandoiler/Sash unique to the Rifle Regiment, out of all three only the Major wore the white band around the bottom of her shoulders, otherwise, apart from the green shirt and the sash her uniform was like all the crew, they were a holdover from late 2370s style uniform, the type is worn during the Shinzon incident, all entered and took their places among those already assembled.
Mazal took note of the tall redhead, as well as the others who were coming in.
Captain Jelan Lemoris arrived as well in his dress uniform. HE still had a slight limp from previous engagements but he was fit for duty. He looked around for some of his men and then made a bee-line to them.
K'Muss entered shortly after the officers. He was still limping slightly from taking a disruptor to the knee during the last mission. He tread a little lighter than usual as he was still the "new guy" of sorts
First Lieutenant Joseph Tabor was a fighter pilot in the 102nd Squadron, he had done a small duty on the bridge at the helm station some years ago, but beyond that, he rarely had any contact with the rest of the crew. As a Fighter pilot, he knew how to be one, but he was socially awkward and always found it hard to make friends and was thus bewildered as to why he was asked to attend this meeting as he was not part of the ground pounders.
James O'Donnaghue walked into the throng of people situated for the meeting. This was his first meeting aboard, but thankfully his second in command was present which made his life even easier. There were many marines present, one marine James had tangled with before but now she was spoken for and he would keep it professional and jovial, Ze was a great guy and truth be told he knew deep down Mazal wasn't his end game and that was ok. Walking over to Lieutenant Tabor "Tabor god I feel so out of place here thank god you are here" he said with a wide smile.
Tabor looked over at James who had just sat down next to him "oh hey boss, I know how you feel, I know we are part of the 95th rifles, but we are pilots, not ground pounders, still, it is going to be interesting, to say the least," Tabor responded.
James looked over to tabor "Aint that the truth brother" he said as he looked around noting the people he knew "This will be interesting let's see how long it takes for the marines and the pilots to be at each other's throats" He said with a slight laugh taking a swig of his drink.
When the seats were filled, Mazal stepped up to the small podium that had been set up and began with "Semper Fidelis!" Mazal greeted those gathered. "Who are we?!" her voice ringing through the air. She looked at her fellow Marines that were there.
Mazal heard shouts of the 95th Rifles Regiment almost in unison. Bronc was amongst those shouting along with the others, same for Delfin and Macapuno.
She raised her hands for the shouts to die down. "Indeed we are the 95th Rifles Regiment on the USS Tomcat and proud of it. Now the reason why I called this meeting, is this. I am First Lieutenant Mazal Falk, the Marine Executive Officer. I have had the opportunity to have met some of you already" her eyes roving over those gathered. "And thus I am making certain to introduce myself, to you. Also, I wish to compliment those who had been on the rescue mission to rescue Captain Somers, thank you for your service. Do any of you have questions?"
Lilliana shook her head, she knew who Falk was. She couldn’t help but wonder about the woman who caught her husband’s eye enough to get a kiss.
It didn't seem that there wasn't anyone wanting to ask a question, but then again it may be more on the aspect of asking them but not wanting anyone to hear them.
"Well, if you have questions to ask and don't wish anyone to hear them, you know where my office is. With that in mind if you do have questions let me know and we can set up an appointment for you to come and ask them." Mazal flashed a smile. "I do like getting to know the people who are serving with me on the Tomcat, always best to do so to be a strong team."
Bronc raised his hand, "I've got a question, Lieutenant Falk."
Mazal looked at him and gave a nod. "Stand up and ask your question."
Bronc did so. "Thank you, Lieutenant Falk. What is your standing on sparring, do you intend on doing some with the troops or will you be sitting on the sidelines."
Delfina quietly growled at this, scowling up at Bronc.
Mazal looked at Bronc long and hard, "That is a viable question, and I can answer you rather honestly. I do get into the ring. I could observe from the sidelines sure, but, to get a good idea of what a person can do, I need to be there right in the ring with them."
Lieutenant Jerok shared a raised eyebrow with Kildare "I never understood the need for such violence Sergeant Major, but I can understand and appreciate the question and answer" Jerok said.
Kildare looked at him "well Sir it is well known we humans find it hard to control our... passions, one time Colonel Somers tried to apply a Vulcan calming technique her husband Commander Sharpe showed her, and the results were hilarious" Kildare said.
Looking blankly at Kildare "I have heard of Commander Sharpe, he is known on Vulcan as the only human to adapt better than other humans who went through the same classes and training as he did. The Colonel on the other hand is more at home with the Klingons than her species" Jerok observed.
*Shaking his head ruefully* "you have no idea El-tee, no idea" Kildare quietly said and continued to listen.
Goodwin just kept to herself and took in all the comments to make mental notes. She had been assigned to the Tomcat for a while now but she did what was needed and kept to herself. She was good at what she did but never really spoke out and preferred it that way.
Jasmine sat observing the other marines, particularly the handsome ones. Kildare was spoken for worse luck, but she was sure there were plenty of other men out there that would be fun to entertain. “Lieutenant” She stood up to ask her question. “Will you be requiring more regular training or team-building exercises?”
"I do intend on putting us through regular training, as well as team building exercises," Mazal answered with a smile, and then it faded away to a more serious expression. "There may come a time when a few of us will need to already be familiar with how we all work. This includes our marine pilots. We are all marines and on this anyone who is a marine be they pilots or ground pounders will be going through refresher training. Just to keep us all ready to go into action."
Her eyes looked to where the marine pilots were at. "As a matter of fact, "Lieutenant O'Donnaghue and Lieutenant Tabor, are our marine pilots. We will be training with them as they will be our eyes in the sky when we are needing them. Let me be clear on this when I was on some missions before I was assigned to the USS Tomcat, the eyes in the sky proved to be rather valuable. Saved my team's hides on more than one occasion."
Her eyes zeroed in on the marine pilots, "Also gentlemen, you will be participating in activities as well. We need to be one unit, even though you are in your respective squads and positions, still, it is extremely important." Mazal has a rather firm tone. "Heaven forbid that either of you goes down, but just in case that happens and you walk away from it, you will be prepared to get yourselves out of that situation, do I make myself clear?" her voice ringing out loud and succinctly.
Giving Mazal a raised eyebrow "excuse me, Lieutenant, while I appreciate the need to work together, we are all of the 95th Rifles, thus highly trained in our respective fields, technically our Department Head is the CAG" his awkwardness was showing "I do know us pilots have our training, but I suppose we can put two-hours aside for ground team training with the Regiment on the Tomcat, can't we Jim?" He asked looking at the 102nd Squadron Leader.
Jasmine nodded in response to Mazal’s answer and took her seat. For now, that was the only question she had.
James looked towards Mazal "We are all one unit the only thing that separates us is our differing vocations I and Tabor are and always will be the eyes in the sky we are marines and we are pilots and I like to think we're damn good at our jobs" he said with a big smile on his face.
"Oh don't worry I do plan on speaking with the CAG to coordinate with her," Mazal responded to Lieutenant Tabor's comment.
Mazal also flashed a slight smile at Jame's comment, "Indeed we will be counting on that."
There was a slight ripple of chuckles at the answers from the marine pilots. Mazal raised her hands in an endeavour to quiet the marines down for a moment. Just then...
