Mission: S3 Episode 5: 95th Regimental Missions
Location: Uss Roosevelt
Timeline: MD01

[ON]

LCMD Cahill was briefed on her mission and told she would be in command of the USS Roosevelt. The ship was heavy ship and quite capable of handling just about any ship thrown at it.

She left the Tomcat and went to SB-51. Once there she went to flight operations to get her command authorization orders and her mission briefing from Starfleet. Once done she went to the shuttle Bay and took a shuttle to the Roosevelt. She could have beamed over but she wanted to examine the ship from the outside before she went aboard.

After circling the ship a couple of times she landed and was greeted by a security officer. He announced as she disembarked. "Captain on the Deck."
She replied, "As you were."

Once done she had him take her to the turbo lift to access the Bridge. Once there she exited onto the Bridge and looked around. Someone called, "Captain on the Bridge" She replied, "As you were."

She took her bag to her Ready Room and returned to the bridge. A crew member gave a report on the status of the ship and left. It reported everything was ready.

She took her seat in the Captain's chair and took a deep breath. This was her first command and she did not want to screw it up by being nervous.

Faith wasn't too far behind, but she'd gone with the transporter option. Taking a little stroll before deciding to head for the Bridge. Stepping off of the turbolift just after Cahill came out of her Ready Room. Giving her a warm smile as she went over to the Tactical station.

Cahill replied, "Welcome aboard the Roosevelt Lt Benson."

"Thank you, Ma'am." Faith nodded a bit.

Having beamed aboard the USS Roosevelt, his newest assignment, Todd was well-versed in the mechanics of the vessel. The Roosevelt was retrofitted as a lean and mean carrier of troops and fighter vessels.

Engineering was just as proven to be lean and defend itself, the large vessel from pirates, nebula dangers, and even onboard hand-to-hand combat. Likewise, following the lean theme, Todd was staffed with a lean engineering complement of officers. However, off the bat, Todd was already re-tweaking magnetic salvo synthesizers for the fighter jet mimetic photon generators.

Taking a moment, Hewitt lead himself to the main bridge and exited. The flurry of action was nice, as was the familiar face. “Captain. Acting Chief Engineer Todd Hewitt reporting for duty, all systems are nominal.” He reported to the busy Captain Cahill.

Cahill turns to him, "Great Lt Hewitt, glad to know engineering is up and running. Once all crew is onboard we will set course and head to the Hydaransz system to do our jobs."

Mazal had been checking on the various Marines that were arriving on the USS Roosevelt. It occurred to her that she should probably be reporting to Cahill. This was a bit strange to her for being the Brevet Captain of the Marines. The door to the bridge opened up from the turbo lift. "Permission to come aboard the bridge," she asked Commander Cahill

Cahill replied, "Granted And it is Captain on the Roosevelt Captain Mazal. I am a Brevet Captain like you for this mission. I am new to this too, Captain Mazal.

"Are your Marines ready and got their stuff stowed away Captain.?"

"Yes, they are, Captain." Mazal gave a brief smile. "First timers for us. It's going to be a good experience."

- Engineering Deck -

Executive Officer, Lieutenant Matt Thompson had come aboard earlier that morning and was inspecting engineering, science labs, medical bays, and deflector control. Roosevelt was an impressive ship and he got up to speed fast. He had already toured most of it familiarizing himself with it and had even set his command codes and cabin assignment, he had his orderly set up his cabin and got to work. Matt talked to several of the crew that was already there and the new crew replacements that were even now coming aboard from Starbase 51. He knew the crew replacements from Tomcat already so he got to know the crew he didn't know. He had an affable and friendly nature and this helped secure their loyalty. Lt Thompson knew that Commander Cahill was coming aboard sometime this afternoon, but didn't know when. She was receiving her final debriefing from star base command.

=/\= Bright this is the XO, please inform me when Captain Cahill reports aboard. =/\= Matt requested.

=/\= She is already aboard and on the bridge Mr Thompson =/\= The duty officer reported. The duty officer replied.

=/\= Please let the Captain know I'm on my way =/\= Matt requested.

=/\= Aye Sir=/\= The duty officer replied.

Matt made his way to the nearest turbo-lift and headed to the bridge.

He stepped onto the bridge for the fifth time that day.

"Welcome aboard Captain Cahill. Roosevelt is an impressive ship ad she is in good fighting trim," The XO reported.

Captain Cahill had come onboard quietly and was getting the feel of her ship from the reports as they came. She had been checking things out. She knew her crew was good and the ship was in good hands with them doing their jobs. She had waited for her XO LT Thompson to come to the Bridge. A good XO always goes over the ship with a fine toothcomb. She heard the Turbo lift doors open as crew members went about their business. She heard Lt Thompson greet her. " Welcome aboard Lt. Thompson. I assume you have been doing the usual checks all XOs do. To familiarize yourself with your new baby." As I smile and wink.

"Aye Captain and from what I have seen Roosevelt is a good ship. I have yet to inspect the fighter bays or the armoury but I have personally inspected engineering, the science labs, the sickbay, and deflector control. I will get to the rest this afternoon. The base commander suggested we do the official change of command ceremony at 1900 on the recreation deck with all hands present. Most of the crew has already reported aboard and is familiarizing themselves with some new equipment, I have staffed the duty roster on a three-shift rotation period, but it is early enough to where we can switch to a four-shift rotation without too much difficulty. The marine contingent of the 95th rifles have arrived and are bivouacked on deck 16. We have some heavy infantry munitions arriving due at 1500, the munitions will be stored in cargo three. That's all I have to report unless there was something else you needed me to do, Captain." Matt reported.

Cahill replied, "Understood Lieutenant, and once the change of command is done. I want to get it underway ASAP. It will take about a week to get there and that is plenty of time for the crew to get acquainted with the new ship. Also, run any drills that each department may want to do. I want the Roosevelt ready to do battle before we get to the Hydaransz_System.

I like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best in any mission. Whether I am in command or not. That way we are ready for anything thrown at us." The Captain said.

"Aye Captain" Matt replied.

Mazal quirked her head towards the newly arrived XO, apparently, he decided to give the more detailed happenings on the Marines. "Thank you Lieutenant Thompson for giving that full report." Mazal dryly said. "I will be going to go find my Marine XO to meet with my people. Captain, Lieutenant. Let me know when I can have the details for where we are going." Giving a nod toward them both, Mazal turned to leave the bridge.

"Very good Lieutenant Falk, do what you need to to be ready for anything. I want you to be sure the Marines are ready to go above and beyond. We will have little chance of assistance on these missions and communications will be spotty. So be ready for anything." Replied Cahill.

"Mr Falk we will need to set up drills for your people, I would appreciate any scenarios you can come up with to fit our contingency operations. Practice makes perfect," Matt said.

Mazal paused and looked back. "Sir, do not worry that has already been on my mind." the tall amazonian woman replied "And I already have planned on doing such, and have been doing drills. I always worked on plans a b c all the way to quadruple the alphabet. Since we have not spoken to each other before and only met during the briefing about what we will be facing." Mazal gave a congenial smile.

"This will be a good learning experience as to how well we work together, however, the Marines are also my responsibility. And once I get the necessary scans of what we will be facing, plans will be adjusted accordingly. And you will be kept in the loop. I make plans, I analyze, and I move accordingly. And also try to be fluid. When going into battle the terrain needs to be assessed, and possible pitfalls planned for. But also we need to be worried about the possibility of well-planned out actions, contingency plans, Murphy decides to rear his head and throw a monkey wrench into the works."

Cahill replied, " I know you command the Marines. And I command the ship and mission. I like to be part of any plans so if I need to help out with your fast evacuation. I know what and where to look for you, Lt. Falk.

"I am your ride to the system and your ride home too," Cahill added.

"We all need to work together to insure this mission succeeds. Please have your drill plans available for the next mission briefing, Lieutenant Falk," The XO instructed.

Mazal looked at both Cahill and also Thompson, "Captain Cahill and Lieutenant Thompson, just as a gentle reminder, for this mission I am now Captain Falk, and that will be how I will be addressed." Mazal had a firm look in her eyes, with a slight smile as well.

- Coming aboard -

Cassandra carried her gear onto the Roosevelt. She was nervous. That was only to be expected, however. She was glad to have been found fit to go with the rest of the team. As she followed her fellow troopers through the halls she took note of where things were for later. They reached deck sixteen and stowed their gear and got settled with practised ease. This was home for the foreseeable future. It seemed cosy enough. She went to the mainstay and checked the duty roster to see if anything had changed since that morning. It was all still just as it was before. Check-in, stow gear, report to the docking bay to help load up any remaining gear, Some assembly on the recreation deck in 1900 hours, all very standard stuff really. So she moved along to do her assignments with the rest of the company.

Serina was transported directly to the fighter deck to make sure her ship was ok and fully ready for the upcoming trip. Not finding Racine she went to find her and wound up on the bridge. Figuring that since she was there, she would reacquaint herself with the navigation and helm controls of the Roosevelt. Finding Racine would have to wait.
