Mission:
S3 Episode 5: Diplomatic Incident/Hydaransz Again (Incidentals)
Location: USS Rosenthal NCC-24813-C
Timeline: 239512.14
--------Transporter room One----------
The Away team met in transporter room one, they were accompanied by a damage control team from engineering and a squad of Marines to contain any firefights.
Matt was the first one to show up. As acting XO he tried to set an example. as others filed in her gave a mission brief.
"The Rosenthal was on fire, there was life aboard her, the main power was down and auxiliary power was failing. They were to stabilize the power if they could and rescue the crew if they couldn't. There may be hostiles aboard which was why they were bringing the marines. Also, they might need extra hands to rescue survivors. There has been no communication with any of the crew over there as their comm system was down as well. Only about 40 percent of the ship was still habitable the other 60 percent had been holed. He advised the team that he had detected about 30 life forms on the Rosenthal," Matt advised.
"Any questions"? Matt added.
Faith listened while also looking at the PADD she had, going over the deck layout of the ship, marking off locations. "None here, sir."
Hearing the call for some back up, Mazal called for Lieutenant Matthews. "Heads up we need to meet with Lieutenant Thompson and the others. Lets go."
Mazal heading to where the others were waiting, almost at a dead run.
"Sorry I am late, got caught up in a planning session." Falk replied.
K'Muss arrived a little after "I apologize too." He neglected to give his reason. It was embarrassing to admit his fur got stuck in his gear
Matthews had fallen in step with the team as they assembled and followed the MXO and the call to duty.
Lieutenant JG Hewitt had stepped up to the transporter padd, and readied his suited tactical gear. He was trained in tactical firefights and boarding procedures. Todd got this a grunt from the side of his mouth.
Everyone onto the transporter pad
Once everyone was ready Matt had the transporter chief beam them over.
----------Rosenthall------------
They materialized onto a deck with very dim lighting and the place smelled of Ozone.
Matt ran a tricorder check.
"Atmosphere 11 lbs per square inch, life sign readings ahead many dead and several wounded." Matt said.
Phasers to the ready. only 40 percent of this ship is even habitable. The comm system has also been shorted out.
"Alright people fan out try to help whom you can if you run into any hostiles take them out." Matt said.
Faith gave a look around a little bit, using the heads up display(HUD) of the EVA suit she was in to better keep a check on things instead of having to look at her arm, or tricorder as often. Giving a tap to beep everyone in the team to make sure her own comms were working.
The view wasn't exactly that pleasant to start with, but at least the smell of ozone couldn't be, well, smelt. The state of the corridor, visually, reeked of a fight and a long one. The scorch marks on the deck, ceiling, and bulkheads. The streaks of blood as well. That easily said some of them ended up in hand-to-hand combat at some point.
"I don't want to question your orders, Lieutenant Thompson, but should we really split up until we know the ship is secure?" Faith asked.
"We need to determine the status of the ship to see if it's even salvageable, although by the looks of it it's not, " Matt replied.
Cassandra interjected as respectfully as she could. "Actually would be faster to split up and sweep the areas we know to be stable as we clear the way to the engineering section for the specialist team. We can use teams of three to sweep the corridors and clear any hostiles as we go. If we split from here, we know our rear is already clear. So we have a clear line of retreat and to establish any supply line from. Less stressful and faster. Plus it will make it easier to re-enforce each other if necessary." She suggested to the MXO.
"I'm inclined to agree, but I want you to stay in constant contact, understood. No unnecessary risks," Matt said.
"As you wish, sir." Faith nodded and waited to see who she was going to be paired with.
"Faith, you take Mazal and Mathews, work your way to engineering if you can if not then work your way towards sickbay if the most protected part of the ship. K'Muss you're with me. Remember to stay in constant communication."
Hewitt wasn't named by the commanding officer in charge, but he knew full well he had best lead off with the Engineering section. If he was to determine the level of structural integrity of the Rosenthall he would be able to do so from there.
"On my way with Falk, Sir." Hewitt informed. It wasn't a slight of orders, it was just an oversight that he hadn't showed up in time to be named.
"Avoid hostilities if you can but protect yourselves if you can't. There is only about 40 percent of this ship has life support at the moment. So please be careful. Let's move," Matt said.
Matt and K'muss took off down the corridor. They didn't run into much resistance, but they did discover the internal comm system was down. Fires were on multiple decks and the ship was wrecked beyond salvage. The shuttle and cargo bays had been destroyed, the warp drive was a hopeless pile of junk and the impulse engines were beyond repair.
They decided to head towards the sickbay from the opposite direction of the others. The bridge was inaccessible as was anything else above deck 6.
Mazal took off in another direction, with Faith, "Things look pretty bad right now." her voice rather grim. Keeping an eye out for possible intruders, checking the room as they went. So far things were clear then in almost slow motion, three individuals turned the corner and things began to get hot.
"Just a little bit." Faith took a breath, bringing the stock of the rifle up to her shoulder. Flicking the Adhoc sight on it on. "I've got those three." Just giving a moment, to get tone on those. Sure there were more, but she had enough of this. Popping off three exact shots, head shots, taking all three down. Dropping back behind cover.
Mazal gave an approving nod at Faith's actions. Then more came, around the corner.
Mazal ducked down behind a projection of the corridor, and sent a blanket of phaser fire towards the three who had started firing. She wanted to give Faith a chance to get undercover before Mazal began picking off the targets, a bolt from behind hitting the wall above turned her attention towards their rear. Mazal silently cursed, as it looked like they were between a rock and a hard place.
Hewitt knelt down from the cross bulk head that was damaged, reappearing each time to cover fire back with Falk and Faith. Todd used his phaser cannon to hit some panels nearby one of the three targets, sending a cascading bright explosion of EPS surge.
A chirp on the combadge. And Mazal quicky tapped on it.
-----Sickbay-----
Matt and K'muss entered sickbay, there were wounded scattered all about, the remnants of the Rosenthal's crew.
"I am Lieutenant Matt Thompson of the starship Roosevelt, we are responding to your distress call, who is in charge here?"
K'Muss stayed near the doorway phaser at the ready. One thing he learned in basic training was to always cover your way of escape. "Still clear behind us, Lieutenant." he said
"Lieutenant JG John Galloway, I guess am now the senior medical officer but we are dangerously short on supplies. The EMH is down I have several wounded mostly phaser and plasma burns. We need to get them to your sickbay, I don't know how much longer we can maintain life support."
"Understood" Matt said.
=/\= Thompson to the Roosevelt, I have about 30 wounded here that are ready to be beamed over to our sickbay=/\=
=/\=Copy that LT Thompson, Beam them over and I will notify Sick Bay they are coming. =/\=
=/\= Ensign Bolt casualties are being beamed to you in Sick Bay. Be ready for them. =/\=
=/\= Captain we are ready and will do everything we can for them. =/\=
Dr. Bolt and her team went to work and worked on each of them one at a time just the way Dr. Cahill had taught her in the training. They moved diligently and as quickly as possible. Some were sent to the surgical team and others were treated and turned over to security so they could rest and get something to eat and drink.
=/\= Security this is Dr. Bolt, I need your teams to see that the ones that are able to are set up with quarters provided for in one of the cargo bays. =/\=
Once the survivors were beamed back to the Roosevelt, Lt Thompson called in the rest of his team.
=/\= Thompson to Mazal, Whats your status=/\=
=/\=Everything looks cle- Never mind=/\=
As the sound of phaser fire could be heard.
Hewitt rounded a corner and twisted raising his phaser cannon high upward the intruder and slamming the metal weapon hard down at the back of his head. A thud was heard as he hit the corridor singed carpet. "Another one down..." Hewitt reported to Falk.
=/\= What is your position we are on our way=/\= Matt asked.
Mazal read off the area where she and Faith were at. =/\=I would say between ar rock and a hard place=/\= Mazal quipped.
"No one likes to listen to us apparently, Mazal." Faith shook her head, leaning out again to pop off two more in head. "Are you sure I shouldn't be teaching the weapons class, honey?" Giving a smirk to Mazal.
"Hey I am shooting as well" Mazal exclaimed as she did some consecutive headshots then turned to look at Hewitt and gave a nod toward him. "Hi looks like we've got more backup," she said to Faith. "Besides can't take all of the fun from you."
She frowned just a tad, "Okay let's get out of this little situation we are in. You ready?" Mazal said to both Hewitt and Faith.
"Let's do please," Faith nodded in return.
"As long as I get the tab!" Hewitt remarked. Once again his phaser rifle charged its coils.
"Let's do this,"
Hewitt chimed in "I'm examining the EPS taps in the power distribution sub-compartments. Be careful what consoles you access, I wouldn't trust a power surge, or explosion. Be careful everyone, the systems are brittle. I don't understand how they are remaining stabilized even for the moment."
"Well I am suggesting that we get out of here, before anything else happens." Mazal responded. "Has everyone been gotten off the Rosenthal?" hopefully they will get an answer. Mazal realized that she hadn't activated her com badge and tried sending her message this time.
=/\=Roosevelt has all of the crew members been evacuated?=/\= Mazal waiting for an answer.
=/\=K'Muss to Falk. As far as I know, Ell tee. Will advise. =/\=
=/\= Alright let's get the hell out of here, Roosevelt prepare to beam away team back =/\= Matt called.
=/\= I agree wholeheartedly!=/\= was Mazal's response. She was ready to get back to the Roosevelt.
"10-4 to that. Let's make photons!" Hewitt replied to the team. There was nothing left on the Rosenthal that was safe.
The away team dematerialized and rematerialized on Reoosevelts transporter pads.
-----------Outside the Rosenthal -----------
Serina and Racine and the rest of the fighters were giving the shuttles precise locations of the escape pods that were released. There were a number of them and they did not want to lose any of them. Serina could see that the Rosenthal looked bad and hoped they could save the ship in time.
