Mission: Orientation Posts
Location: Bajoran Trader transport

[ON]

Sitting in his temporary quarters about the Bajoran transport, Connor was enroute to his next assignment after taking an extended leave of absence on Bajor. From what he had been told, his next assignment would be onboard an Akira class starship, the USS Tomcat, but the ship was currently on a mission so he was to wait for the ship's return at Starbase 51. It wasn't strange for this kind of delay to happen, especially with new transfers, but what he did find strange was that there was a marine division onboard what was essentially an aircraft carrier crossed with a torpedo cruiser.

Taking a final look at the specs for the Akira class he'd managed to find on the Starfleet database, Connor thought to himself that this was going to be a very interesting assignment. Code locking the padd as per security protocol, Connor put the padd back into his rucksack before clipping the top flap closed and stowing the bag away.

Stepping over to the window, Connor stood there for a moment letting his mind wander as he watched the stars flying past. He was again leaving his daughter behind on Bajor and although she wasn't a baby anymore, Connor figured it would still be better for her to remain with her mother's family during her formative years than spend them out in the galaxy with him.

He would be lying if he'd said that he didn't want her to travel with him, but her safety took priority over his wants and to tell the truth, he felt he could focus on his work a lot more easily without having to worry about whether or not his daughter was safely back on the ship while he was off on an away mission.

besides, it's not like he's been an absent father. He made sure to call back to Bajor every time he could or when he was too far away to visit, he would call every evening to have talks with his daughter that would often last hours. Taking a deep breath in, Connor held it for a moment before slowly releasing it to calm his nerves. He'd given serious consideration to retiring from Starfleet completely and just staying on Bajor, but in the end, he was convinced by his mother-in-law that he had more than a few good years ahead of him and not to waste them on their farm, but instead to serve out his career and return a conquering hero with plenty of stories to tell the children and eventually the grandchildren.

Turning back around, Connor was about to spend some time cleaning his custom phased pulse rifle he'd built from an old Starfleet design from the late 22nd and early 23rd century when the voice of the ship's captain came over the intercom of the ship. The message wasn't for him, but for the crew.

=/\= Bridge to the crew, we're approaching Starbase 51. All hands prepare docking procedures. All passengers, please remain in your assigned quarters until a member of the crew comes to collect you, thank you. =/\= Came the Captain's voice. Although Connor was the only passenger onboard at the time, he figured the announcement that had been made was a standard announcement that they used for every run they made, though he imagined they skipped the line about passengers when no one was being taken anywhere.

Taking a seat on the bed in his room, Connor chose to simply lie down and wait for someone to come to get him. The last thing this crew would need right now would be a marine wandering around while they were preparing to dock at a spaceport.

After a few more minutes, the Transport dropped out of warp with a significant jolt that almost sent Connor rolling out of his bed. "Bloody hell, I think the pilot of this bucket needs to be retrained a little," he said to himself before shifting back to the middle of the bed where he could be more comfortable while he waited. Oo hmm, I hope the pilot on the Tomcat doesn't have such a lead foot oO he thought as he closed his eyes and tried to relax.
