- Flight Deck, 0845 -

Both Nicci and Teela, Ensigns Taggert and Tjaansz, entered the flight deck, finding a few other officers had already gathered and were milling about roughly in lines. Luckily, a few other female officers were also in the regulation black skirt and calf-high boots, so Nicci and Teela weren't alone in using the option. Lieutenant Dodd came over to chat with them for a moment, with Ensign Wright coming along with Doya, Lt. Pames's wife, as the Lieutenant Pames had returned to the ship in a coma state.

After Dodd chatted with Tjaansz and Taggert for a moment, he wandered over to Machado, Pril, and Nelson to share a few words before the ceremony started. He complimented Pril on her choice to go with the regulations skirt option for the dress uniform as it seems to be the popular choice for his engineering female staff members. Then he headed for his seat.

As things were getting ready to start Dr Cahill went to the chairs and took a seat. She waited patiently for things to get started. She did not notice who was assigned to the chair next to her but was tender this time than others. She did her best to avoid letting it show and look at a computer while she waited to pass the time. She continued till things got started.

Maia nodded to the assembled personnel.

K'Muss entered the flight deck and was glad that he wasn't late. " Whew!" He said to himself as he entered properly to find his assigned seat.

"Don't worry your not late K'Muss?" Maia said.

Jekkar arrived just after Ensign K'Muss and proceeded to find his allocated Seat with the other members of the Senior Staff. All the while the Andorian tugged at his collar, it fitted him perfectly yet it still felt a little tight.

Sheela walked in. Since she wasn't fleet, nor had any Fleet dress uniforms, She wore a nice formal gown with sandals. She just had her Commbadge instead of the usual flower brooch for such formal gatherings. She took her seat, looking over the assembled officers and those arriving.

Taggert took a moment to talk to Doya, who was in the row behind her. "I'm so sorry to hear about Lt. Pames. I didn't know her that well but I will definitely pray for her speedy recovery."

"Thank you. I have faith the prophets will bring her out of it sooner than later. I am so appreciative of all the crew as they have been very kind in this situation." Doya replied while maintaining a smile as best she could.

"She was such a good Trill," Teela added, cheerfully. An odd statement to be sure, but then again, Teela was still translating from her own language to English. "I enjoyed working with her too."

"Teela, that she nice of you to say. I know she enjoyed working with you as she sort of marvelled about your tail and how you use it to help get your tasks done." Doya responded.

Armitage entered the Flight Deck and saw Commander Swiftpaws, she walked over to the Officer "excuse me, Commander!"

Sheela looked up at Armitage with curiosity. "Squee?" To acknowledge her as she sat there relaxed in her chosen seat to wait for the ceremony to begin.

"Captain Somers would like a quick word with you, she is in the Security Office going over some clearances," Armitage said, she was in dress whites also.

"Squeee.." Sheela stood up and moved from the flight deck to go find Captain Somers.

With that Armitage leaves the Commander and walks up to the small stage to prepare for the awards ceremony, she looked up to see Sheela exit the room.

Iria walked on to the flight deck at a brisk pace, her face flushed more from embarrassment than the speed walking she'd been doing. She relaxed as she noticed she was NOT the last one and that it appeared to not have gotten under way just yet. She saw Ensign Doya Emja with several other ladies, they looked to be having very animated conversations. She walked up slowing her pace now that she was near other folks. "Ensign Doya Emja please allow me to say how sorry I am for Pames' injuries. If you need help or to talk please let me know," she said once there was a break in the conversations around the Bajoran woman.

"Thank you so much. I may take you up on that offer. I am currently working to pack our quarters and get everything ready for transfer to Starbase 39 Sierra. Chief Dodd already transmitted his recommendations to their engineering staff. As it happens to turn out, the station's damage control coordinator has stepped down and with Dodd's help, I am now the station's replacement. Also, the station is one of the few stations to have advanced medical facilities to handle coma patients without having to go all the way to Terra or Betazed. So I am hoping this is a sign that someday soon my wife will wake up and rejoin me." Doya shared with Walon and the rest who were with them as a tear gently rolled down her cheek to which she quickly wiped it away.

Dressed in her Marine based Dress Whites S'arila Donovan entered the Flight Deck, all Seven foot of her, she was the tallest on the ship and she would wager within Starfleet, thanks to her alien heritage, as she walked in she looked over to see Jekkar and Sterling speaking, so she went over to them.

"Excuse me peoples!" she said in a quaint manner "how be things with you both?" Donovan asked.

"Going good here, Major," K'Muss replied, adjusting his collar. " Getting used to these new class A's."

"The replicator must be working overtime for you, Major. Although I have to admit you look pretty sharp." Maia said.

Nodding "Thank you, Commander, *then to K'Muss* good to hear, you know sometimes I so miss my telepathic ability, other times I am glad it is gone, honestly a number of rebellious thoughts that went through Sheela's head almost overwhelmed me on times. But I suppose it is for those attributes the Captain promoted her and made her Chief Intelligence Officer and Second Officer, no point having a drone in the post *sighing as she looks at K'Muss* so Ensign, how are you finding being Fleet and Assistant Chief of Security, vastly different from MCO I'll wager?" Donovan said.

"She is an action girl". Maia said.

"You'd win that one for sure." He replied. "Kinda bittersweet," he added. "New vs old, that kinda thing."

Again nodding, "Indeed, indeed, I will be glad when we get a full-time MCO, but until then I am stuck with the job *looks over at Maia* So Commander, how are things with you and have you any idea who is going to get what at this ceremony?" Donovan asked.

"I am fine, almost recovered just a few scrapes and bruises. I do have a pretty good idea, but you're just going to have to wait. The Captain is rewarding who she thinks deserves it".

Pulling a mock pouty face "Times like this I am wishing me had my telepathy back, but I suppose we will soon see on that I agree" Donovan said looking straight ahead.

"Perhaps, though I wouldn't quite give up on your powers just yet". Maia said.

K'Muss nodded as he listened to his superiors conversation

Dr Cahill finished her article from the medical journal and got up to get a drink as she went to the replicator she spoke politely to the crew members that were already there. She got a cup of coffee and turned around to look at things. She was glad so many of the crew was able to be there and was also glad so many of the wounded and injured were fully recovered and a few still were on restricted duty till they finished recovering.

She saw Lt Dodd and LCMD Sheela there. She also saw Maj Donovan there and knew she missed her telepathic abilities. Dr Cahill was looking into ways she may be able to restore them for her. She began to move around the deck waiting for things to get started.continued to do what she could to keep.

She tried to keep everyone from knowing she was nervous. But then she was always nervous at these type of ceremonies. She hoped it did not show.

Excusing herself from K'Muss and Sterling, Donovan sat down next to where Cahill was sitting and waited till she returned and when she did. "So El-tee, how has the research on finding a way to return my telepathy coming along? I know you have been looking into it, what I do not know is if you have gotten anywhere with your research?" Donovan asked.

"I had found some items that may help you restore the Telepathic powers you had Major Donavon, as I pull them up on my handheld computer. *Cahill shows her the items* These are neurostimulators that can be tested externally and once we find the one that works it can be surgically placed on the surfaced of you skull to be hidden from view. From research, these are making the nerves re-stimulate their actions and allow for the telepathic powers to be returned. But in some cases, it does not work all the time and it would not hurt to try them externally and see what happens."

I always am thinking of my patients and their needs. Seems like I am always doing something. *As Cahill laughed* I have made arrangements for them to be delivered and we can try them when they arrive. They may even be at the Starbase when we go there for repairs."

Donovan looks at Cahill "thank you El-tee, but I want your word that if it does not work or I am uncomfortable with the effects you will stop looking into it, yes?" she asked. oO Do I really want my telepathy back! If it can be done, it will not be the same as what I originally had, I saw the scans the telepathic nodes were inert and desiccated Oo Donovan thought to herself, she may not have been a doctor or a medic but she was familiar with the telepathic nodes in her brain and knew what healthy ones looked like and what dead ones look liked, she was glad that they were not connected directly to the brain but were connected like the humanoid eyes were by neuroelectrical nerves, she was not sure of the name of the flesh strings, but they had also atrophied.

As you know, I only do what my patients ask for and stop when they ask me too. I do what the patient agrees to let me do and look out for their best interests.

Nodding, "Thank you, Doctor, for all your efforts," Donovan said then looked around "looks like everyone is here" as if to punctuate this observation, the Captain had arrived on the Flightdeck, without anyone noticing and cleared her throat.
