-Bridge -
After the dust had settled all hostile space forces were destroyed or disabled, and the enemy ships that could flee, now recovery crews were bringing in damaged fighters from the Tomcat, any fighters from the Rogue Section 31/Tasl'Shiar side self-destructed by their pilots or a timer set before their occupants died, either way, the clear up was easy, the Security team had managed to infiltrate, download any information and get out just before the station went boom.
The Tomcat had also taken damage to, but nothing that hindered its structural integrity, but she feared Lieutenant Hawksley was not happy with the repairs he would have to make. When the Security assault team arrived back on the Tomcat Alex was notified she stood up "You have the bridge Number One" she said to Dodd and headed for the turbo lift.
"Yes, ma'am, I will hold the fort down for you," Dodd stated with a grin as he stood up from the engineering console he had been manning to blend into the background.
As she entered the lift she looked at him with a smile and then the doors closed "Flight deck" she said and the lift whisked her to her required destination.
- Engineering -
Down in Engineering LCARs were lighting up like a Christmas tree. The main engineering computer was reporting alarms and codes. “Warning. LC-3301. Lower MCS reactor cap threshold deviation.” Amongst the batch of alarming statements that the Tomcat’s propulsion, shields, and nacelle systems were alerting.
Hawksley with his sleeves rolled up was rushing back and forth to the central control systems.
“Thex,” Leland called more orders to her already mounting list, as Hawksley rushed to his list. “Access the mains for the MCS fusion pre-burner, cycle to array sequence emergency shut down!” His voice was urgent, trying to stop the critical cascade of failures that engineers often had to face when critical systems were damaged in a firefight.
The Tomcat was in an OK position, yet he wouldn’t let the systems degrade to a full-on reactor emergency.
"On it." Yelled Thex who began racing over to the needed console with all the speed she could manage. Her blue digits began racing as she imputed the needed commands. " Array sequencer emergency shut down commencing," she said as the ship began to go about the assigned command.
Punching in multitudes of coding sequences in the main pool tables, Hawksley’s brown eyes glistened over the red-flashing LCARS. “Ensign Hunt. I’m shunting anti-matter storage tanks 3-9 to auxiliary to reduce static on cryo-tank storage L3. Enact on my mark.” Hawksley kept his eyes wide open to the screen, with his right forearm holding out, gestured at Hunt awaiting his critical call.
“Ready.” Ensign Hunt was across the pool table, sweat dripping from his forehead from stress and exertion from the attack.
“Enact.” Hawksley then ordered.
Just then, the main computer reported. “IPS command coordination active. IPS command coordination completing gallium florid fusion. Vectored Exhaust Director ports 1-3 egressing.”
“Core stabilization 88% and rising.” Ensign Hunt grinned turning eye to eye with Leland.
“THERE.” Hawksley almost collapsed as he leaned into the pool table, his large hands grasping the sides. He smiled closing his eyes, hearing no more emergency codes, nor klaxons as the systems suddenly went to a step-down emergency. “Oh, man…” Leland wiped his forehead. “This…. This is just the start.” He laughed uncontrollably tired.
"Sir, Glad we are all safe, Great job, chief. I will get to work on the IPS systems and make sure they are realigned for proper operations." Nelson stated as he realized he now had a worthy task to keep him busy and make himself useful.
" I'll get to work on the full repair list," Thex called from her console.
Arriving in Engineering Alex decided to visit Engineering before the flight deck, entering a hectic engineering "Chief Hawksley!" Somers shouted out amid the notice of the Engineering room.
Leland twisted his neck from around a bulkhead. Cowling attenuations opened up every second interface. Leland holding a phase spanner of the CTS L4 gas mitigation condenser.
Straitening his back upward, his shoulders broad as he addressed his superior. "Captain. What can we do for you?" Leland gave a slight smile. He assumed that Somers was in Engineering for an in-field report.
*Looking around* "I knew we had taken some serious damage, but I did not know we had it this bad, we lost Ensign Drevas he was on his way to his duty post when an exploding ODN power conduit exploded next to him, by the time the Medics got to him it was too late, so there are some damage conduits on the Security level. Anyway, what is the SITREP here Chief?" Somers asked.
“Nelson is working on propping up environmental systems on decks 4,5,12 and 14. Personnel have been evacuated to alternate decks for the time being.” Hawksley had his working orders on his PADD that he picked up from the pool table as he walked across the room to meet Captain Somers.
“Core functionality has been reduced to Warp 4. I won’t be able to increase that for at least 10 hours. Thruster's port sides are shot, and backups are shot as well. We can rig about alright for the time being.”
“Cascading failures in EPS conduits have been halted, again for the time being. I’ve sent out repair teams to isolate, patch, and redirect plasma breaches.” Hawksley’s eyes took in the fact that Drevas had been killed on the Security deck. Leland paused a moment taking in a slight breath. Now was not the time to offer condolences, not yet at least.
Handing the engineering status PADD to Somers Leland asked. “Can we expect more attacks from the Tal Shiar?” The Warbird was an impressive vessel. The fact that the Tomcat had destroyed it in battle, and survived, despite the state she was in was a testament to its design and Starfleet ingenuity.
“That is the current situation. There is more if you wish?” Hawksley offered to indulge the Captain in his mechanical minutia.
*Looks at the CEO* "No all is good Chief, you know what you are doing, Captain Somers would not have made you her Chief Engineer if she did not believe you could do the job" the Colonel said "Well we are en route out of the area, I have to go see Lieutenant Winchester and Ze and find out about their parts" She said.
“Understood.” Hawksley nodded. He had hoped that Ze was doing well. Security in this situation was critical. The man was an impeccable officer. “I am sure things will be fine.” Leland nodded.
"Well, dam it" Thex said upon hearing Drevas name being mentioned as killed in action. Pausing for a second she breathed in and out before returning to her work. He getting upset over her friend's death wasn't going to solve anything.
Leland paused and turned to Thex. He stood beside her and didn't say anything, he couldn't. Drevas was an integral member of the crew and it was shattering. He swallowed and lent his eyes to Thex's eyes at a level that was knowing, full of pain as well. Then, he breathed outward and pulled up an engineering tachyon kit. "Thex. I need you to re-seal the coolant tank on Deck 12. You will meet up with Nelson already there."
" Yes sir," Thex said with a nod before heading for the door. There would be time to mourn later.
Nelson was already on Deck 12 and working away near the coolant tank. He saw Thex arrive, "Hey I figured someone would be coming along soon, as I have a temporary fix in place to hold the seal on this coolant tank." Nelson stated, "Glad you arrived when you did as not sure how much longer the patch I used would hold."
" Leave it to me I'll have her as good as new in a jiffy," Thex said as she dropped her toolkit to the floor and opened it up. This she could set her mind to. Making sure this ship got fixed up as best as she could.
"I am here to assist if you need any," Nelson replied. "I happen to know that we have had issues with this coolant tank before and this damage may need more than a simple patch."
" Well....." Thex said running an engineering scanner over the coolant tank. " Multiple sub-dermal fractures. We're going to have to replace her. Can you start the draining procedure while I make sure the patch will hold?" She asked Nelson.
"No worries, I have all the gear needed to do that and will get right on it," Nelson replied.
" Let's get started then. " Thex replied with a grin as she pulled out a modular patcher and began running it over the areas of the patch that had subdermal cracks.
- Security -
After leaving Engineering Alex entered the lift and when the doors closed "Security" she said and the lift took her to the requested destination, she knew the ship would be busy in the aftermath and as the doors opened she stepped out into a hub or activity and made her way to the Security Chiefs Office.
It did not take long, especially when the crew realised who was around them, she made it to Tosrol's office as she entered "Lieutenant Ze, how did the mission go, I saw the brief that we got the body of the Ambassador back, how did things go over there?" She asked.
Ze looked up bleary "Well I'd like to say it went well Alexi but that would be a lie," he said drinking his coffee " Needless today ill probably need a good dose of therapy after this that's all I'm going to say the matter," He said wiping his eyes as he fell the tears sting at the corners.
Alexi nodded.
-Sickbay-
As ordered Ted made his way to Sickbay to help with the wounded.
“ I’ve been asked to give you a hand.” He said as he came through the doors.
