The corridors of the sovereign-class vessel echoed slightly as Thex went about her duties tool belt around her waist and kit across one shoulder.

Stopping at one of the panels she quickly had it unbolted, before carefully placing it on the floor. She had some work to do.

With Dodd taking command of the ship Jasmine had time to walk the ship, she no longer used a cane, but she had been encouraged to keep up a gentle exercise for the legs, she found it strange walking the corridors of a Sovereign-class ship, it was very different from an Akira class, but after the update and retrofit the Tomcat will look very similar internally to a Sovereign-class. As the Captain rounded a corner she saw an Andorian Officer with their head partially inside a maintenance hatch.

"Hey Chief what is the problem?" She asked the officer.

Thex smiled as she pulled her head out of the maintenance hatch. " Hello, captain. " She said with a smile on her blue face. " Just fixing some gremlin problems I've detected on the ship's power system."

*Smiling* "Even now in the 24th Century we still get Gremlins *chuckles* well make sure this Sovereign-class flies and works at optimal, so how are you finding being in charge of Engineering for this mission?" Somers asked Thex.

" I'm honoured you've given me the chance captain," Thex replied honestly. " She is larger than the Tomcat, but don't worry I won't let you down. We'll have her handed back over to the fleet without a scratch."

"While that is good to know, this ship was due to be decommissioned, I have put in a request to have her stationed to this Starbase permanently she may be an old ship compared to some of the newer ships, but she can still be of service out here and she is well armed which is good.

" Seems odd she's due to be decommissioned. We still have a few of the Excelsior class flying around." Thex added. " Though they are being held together with brown paper, vinegar and happy thoughts."

*Shrugs* "Those ships are Flagships for Admirals, they are no longer frontline ships, well the majority are not, Starfleet is slowly reverting to less aggressive ship styles, if it was not me the Tomcat would have been decommissioned years ago, but strange why issues are happening if they seem too suspicious report it to Security, they can investigate" Somers responded.

The Andorian nodded. " I will captain. Anything that has been misbehaving has been logged and recorded. I'll then have my team fix it and if it's still misbehaving we'll see if we can get it replaced or bypassed. " She added quoting the operations list by heart.

" Is there anything else you need me to look at?" She added.

"Nothing comes to mind, you are doing a great job Lieutenant," Somers said the engineer's Commbadge sounding forestalled whatever response she would have given.

=/\= Dodd to sh'Zoarhi, How are you liking this temporary ship of ours? =/\=

=/\= sh'Zoarhi to Dodd. She's holding up fine commander just making sure she's fully awake before we see some action." The Andorian replied as she tapped her combadge.

=/\= Great to hear. Part of me wishes I was in your shoes on this ship. But just as long as you get a feel for this ship and help it purr during our mission. Please make sure all transporters are operational as we may need to beam up technology that we can't make inert. =/\=

=/\= Will get on it right away boss. Do we have a one hundred per cent guarantee of what this technology is powered by? =/\= the blue girl enquired.

=/\= When last we visited Arth, they had a variety of power sources but the major population hubs do have Federation-level plasma generators and even some nuclear fusion hubs. So they should be somewhat easy to locate. =/\= Dodd replied. =/\= Looking forward to your updates after you have made your complete rounds of this future museum piece. =/\=

Somers was looking amused at this interaction and openly smiling using the engineer's link she spoke =/\= Checking up on the troop's Number One? =/\= She asked =/\= Yes Mr Dodd I am speaking to the CEO =/\= she added looking at the Andorian with a smile.

=/\= Hello, Captain. Did not know you were on the Themistocles. I knew Thex was on the ship and wanted to check-in. =/\= Dodd replied. =/\= I will be headed to the ship to move my gear into my quarters and walk the decks to familiarize myself with our temporary home in about forty minutes. Will you still be on the ship? =/\=

*Smiling* =/\= Of course I am, someone has to assess you and Falk on the Command Front Commander, remember this is your test, I am mainly here on this ship to observe and assess you Commander Dodd, so I hope you will not let me down? =/\= Somers asked.

=/\= Ma'am, I always give my best on and off duty. If I somehow let you down, I will know it before you have to say anything as I will have really let myself down. I strive to always be the best you deserve from an XO and before that as a Chief Engineer. =/\= Dodd replied.

=/\=I know Commander, I know, I am just giving you a hard time, any way any advice for the Lieutenant here before we let you go? =/\= Somers asked.

=/\= Thex, the bit of advice I can give you that I feel will benefit you the best is simply this. Be yourself and do not worry about being the previous person in your post. You do you and make the post yours. This is coming from the former chief engineer within me. I am also very certain Hawksley would agree because he doesn't want a copy of himself working with him either. Hope that helps. I am certain we will mesh well together and I am so looking forward to the voyage ahead of us. =/\= Dodd stated.

=/\= Thank you sir I'll remember that." =/\= Thex added over the coms before she turned back to Somers. " Unless you need me for anything else I'll get back to my work captain. "

with the line closed she looked at Thex "Well Chief I will leave you to it, remember you have engineering staff, and a good team leader works with their team to get a job done, remember that little tip" Somers said and winked with a smile.

" I know captain. I'll see you later." She said before she returned to her work.


With a final nod, the Captain left Thex to do her job, the Captain had other areas to go to, and with her XO in charge of this mission she relished the moments she was not on the bridge
