Mission:
General Sim Postings
Location: Security Chiefs office SB51
Timeline: After the Awards Ceremony
[ON]
After the awards ceremony, Jasmine had to do something that was never nice, she was currently in the security chief's office which was empty of other Staff, she stepped her Commbadge =/\= Fleet Captain Somers to Lieutenant Commander Cahill and report to the Security and the Chief's office immediately =/\= Somers said.
Tapping her Commbadge to connect =/\= On my way Captain=/\= she closed the link and headed to the requested destination, where she would have to wait a bit for the Captain to arrive as she had gotten there earlier than she thought.
- SB51 Security Chiefs Office -
Finally, Captain Somers arrived, Jasmine was still using a cane to help her walk, as she entered the chief office "Hello Commander please be seated" she said sitting behind the desk, she got comfy and used the time to get her thoughts in order and to allow the CMO to sit down.
When that was done "Do you know Why you are here Commander?" She asked.
Cahill replied, "No Captain" And sat down.
Somers leaned forward on the desk and folded her hands on the desk "I have gone through your performance reports made by various officers under your command on the Roosevelt during our last mission, and what they told me is you have a lot to learn still. I know you want your very own command someday, but sometimes you try too hard and other times, you do not do so well, this was one of those times. As you may have been aware your being put in command was a test, a way for me to assess you in a stressful situation, the fact that you did not lose your ship is a brownie point, but the rest, not so you did not adapt to situations well sometimes you do not charge head-on, you go around you went up against a Fighter Carrier a heavily defended ship by itself, you were lucky it had no escort, otherwise we would be holding a memorial with empty coffins. Commanding a ship Commander means also thinking of those who serve on the ship with you as it is not just your life you endanger, it is theirs too" Somers said and paused.
"When I assigned you as my Second Officer, you were showing promise, in the years since your promise has been flat-lined, you got too complacent in your position. I want you to know that the title of Officer Commanding is not the same as Commanding Officer" pauses.
"An Officer Commanding is a Senior Officer put in command of a unit, the Maries use it a lot, the Rifles too to some extent, so for the mission you did your official title was Officer Commanding, even though due to protocol you were referred to as Captain. Then there is Commanding Officer, this title carries more gravitas, where your title was or is essentially a training one, mine I can get in trouble with if I used the tactics you did" Another pause.
"So, I am removing you as my 2XO, you will retain your current rank and position as my CMO, I will go without a 2XO for a time, but let me assure you, Commander, while this will be a blip in your career, I have no doubt you will manage to make Command, it will just take you a little longer, but you must also accept that not all officers are cut out to command anything more than a department, anything to say before I move onto the next item?" Somers asked.
"As ordered Captain. " Cahill makes to stand and leave the office but is stopped by Captain Somers.
"Not so fast Commander, we are not done and I have not dismissed you, please sit back down, I know the news is upsetting but everything we do in life has consequences, take me when I had just been rescued I was traumatised and thus broke my tormentor's neck when he was in custody, due to my condition at the time I got off lightly, I will never make Admiral because of that, I tell you this to make a point of the consequences our actions have, yours will be personal and not on your service file, my service file will have my actions on it for the rest of my career" she paused.
When the Commander was sitting back down "Okay, you have a new deputy chief medical officer, a 2nd lieutenant Hawthorne, she is currently on the starbase. Lt Dex has health issues and has to take some time off" Somers said then looked at the computer and sighed then looked at Cahill it seems your new ADCMO has be redirected to another posting so for now you are once again solo in Medical, I will try to find you a new DCMO, is there anything you would like to say before I let you go?" The Captain asked.
Cahill replied, "Not a problem. I am just thinking about what needs to be done. While I was away things did change. But that is for another time to talk."
"Well, dismissed Commander" Somers said and watched Cahill leave the office, realising that ever since she had gotten command of the TOmcat she had always had problems in keeping Medical Staffed, the Commander was the longest one to remain as CMO, but the problem came with DCMOs she could never seem to find one that would go the whole nine-yards and support the Commander, she sighed and logged the latest events and then, in turn, left the Security Chief office also, notifying the security Staff that she had finished and to thank the Security Chief for her.
