With all the crew now in the auditorium the Fleet Captain stands up at the podium and activates the microphone "Greetings all, starting I would like to congratulate all of you on a job well done, and as such now is an awards ceremony"
A Long pause...
"Okay before I get to the specialised awards, all of you get three Automatic Awards, and they are Mission Excellence and General Participation and General Operations so well done to all of you on that. Now it is common knowledge that if you do not participate in any capacity in a mission you will not be rewarded beyond the two automatic Awards and there will be some among you who will be getting more awards than the others, this signifies those who get the most will be the ones who have earned them, and that is how it is on the Tomcat, if you are new to the crew and the mission we just completed is your first one with us, do not worry there is plenty of time to get more awards".
"So saying that could Marine Captain Patrick Jackson and Ensign K'Ruuras please come forward, you have both been awarded the Purple Heart, congratulations to you both," Somers said both men came forward as those in the room applauded.
When Mazal heard Patrick's name called, she rose from her seat, stepped into the aisle, and offered her arm to him, then escorted Patrick to where Jasmine was, being his support to keep him steady.
Patrick thanked Mazal for the help as they made their way to the podium. The extra support helped him appear more stable and minimized the swaying he had in his gait. Once he was upfront, he took his free hand and gave a salute to the Fleet Captain.
*smiling at Patrick* "Congratulations Captain Jackson I award you the Purple Heart" she said pinning the medal on his chest, stepping back and holding out her hand.
"Thank you, ma'am." He said shaking her hand and taking Mazal's arm, headed off stage and back to their seats.
C'tirr stood up, the braces creaking slightly, with the help of Cassandra and the table. He let out a small sigh at his own perceived weakness but then noticed that the other recipient of the same award had a full body brace while he was only his lower half. He laid a hand on Cass's shoulder for balance and walked up to the stage. He gave Jackson a warm smile as he took his place next to him.
Cassandra said nothing. Simply smiled briefly at her brother as she assisted him. She had his cane with her in case he got tired and needed more than her shoulder to hold onto. She was so proud of both her brother and her friend Capt. Jackson.
Cahill was late due to writing her reports about her mission she entered and got a drink as the rewards ceremony was starting. She stood by and watched.
After finishing with Jackson, she motioned to Armitage who returned with more than just one award, she started with the Purple Heart "Ensign K'Ruuras I am pleased to award you the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the line of duty" she said pinning that on then picked up another "and to save you a second trip up front I am honoured to award you with the following Awards, the Barclay Ribbon Award, and the Good Conduct Medal" she said pinning on the one she mentioned each time, then she stood back and held out her hand.
"Thank you, ma'am," C'tirr said as he took her handshake. "Though I feel I truly didn't earn these, I will gladly accept them and wear them with pride." His tail gave a lazy swish as he grinned over at Cassandra.
"You earned the awards Ensign," Somers said and looked at Cassandra and Jackson's helper "Okay, you can take them back to the main floor," she said with a smile.
Cassandra did just that. It took effort to maintain her military bearing when what she wanted to do was just hug him close to her and tell him how proud she was of him. Thankfully she didn't. Instead, she got him back to his seat spectacle-free. There would be time to indulge in such things later. Where it wouldn't embarrass her brother.
C'tirr knew his sister had to be very happy with him and it made him happy knowing that. If he knew her as well as he should, she wanted to hug him. He respected her restraint at not giving in so to reward her as they reached their seats, he pulled her into a giant side hug. "Thank you for being here with me." He said with an undercurrent of a purr.
"Mother and Father would be so proud of you. I'm so proud of you as well." Cassandra whispered as they retook their seats.
Mazal when she sat back down between Patrick and Tosrol wondered what else was in store for this awards ceremony.
Ted found a nice comfy spot where he could watch his friends and the bar.
When they returned to their positions Jasmine saw Alex in all her finery and decided to pick her next "Would Lieutenant Colonel Alexandria Somers come up, to receive the Medal of Valour, this was awarded to her on behalf of the crew, for what she has done for the Tomcat, nominated by one of those under her command and a vote for granting such an award had passed, so Colonel Somers it is my treated honour to award you with the Medal of Valour" Jasmine said.
In the crowd Alex was uneasy at how Jasmine was looking at her when it was announced at the award she was to have she was utterly shocked and looked around as those around her began to applaud, she felt her cheeks flush and gathered her wits and walked forward. She had the option of two types of dress uniform, the traditional Rifles dress uniform or the one she was wearing now.
The Dress Uniform she had on was a Green Tunic with black piping a white band around her upper right arm, and Cavalry-style epaulettes that had a gold border with Green boards and a shiny Silver Lt Colonel rank on them. unlike other rifle officers, all who war the Rifle Officers sash her collar had black, not white piping. She had her Commbadge in the usual place, around her right shoulder was a Gold braid, on her upper sleeve shoulder was a unit patch, and running up her right arm were career stipes, her cuffs were black. Her trousers were snug, but not skin-tight, they were green with a black stripe down the outer sides, her shoes were black and had a small heel on them, her red hair was up in a bun, it was not a severe style, but was a softer version of it, her makeup was impeccable and she wore earring studs, how she ported herself and dressed spoke to her upbringing, now she claimed the stage and stood in front of Jasmine as Armitage came forward and Jasmine picked up the Medal.
"Congratulations Colonel," Armitage said quietly with a smile, returned to the table to prep the next awards, and returned at the Fleet Captain had finished.
"Now Colonel Somers has some extra awards, to which few had any knowledge of them "So Colonel Somers I am also proud to award you the Ribbon of Merit and the Marine Honours Medal Silver, the Marine Honours Awards are a new addition and are solely for the Rifles on the Tomcat or Starbase," she said as she pinned the awards on Alex's chest the Colonel's eyes were filling up, with that the Colonel stepped back smartly and shook the offered hand and turned right and left the stage among applause.
Mazal clapped and then sent out a piercing whistle as well of approval. The Colonel deserved the awards and she had a grin that went from ear to ear. "Alright Colonel well deserved"
Cassandra also applauded enthusiastically. Knowing that the team owed a great deal of their success to the wisdom and skill of their fine officers. Particularly Colonel Somers.
Maggie had a fake, wide smile pasted on her face, but her brain was good. She was BORED, and she grew bored by the minute. She needed to make a friend or two here, so at least she'd have someone to commiserate with. She clapped when she heard the others, but couldn't tell anyone what was said. She wondered if anyone would notice if she just slipped out. She couldn't just slip out, due to her injured leg from dogfighting. Crap.
As Alexi Michelle watched the proceedings, she mused that she got out in relatively good shape. Seeing the two officers wearing braces made her feel like the fact that she had shrapnel embedded in her thigh and severe burns from the conduit exploding right next to her made her rather lucky. Her leg was stiff and slightly bothered her when she sat, so instead she stood by the wall in the back of the room, praying the shadows concealed her discomfort.
Watching the ceremony Melody was pleased to finally see a face she recognized from her arrival on the station. She clapped excitedly as Colonel Somers was awarded.
Serina clapped loudly as the Colonel received her just rewards. She deserved every one of them. She continued clapping for her crew mates who got rewards. Everyone deserved their rewards and it made her happy to be part of a wonderful crew and ship.
Leland turned to Lilliana and smiled. This was always rewarding to see fellow crewmates receive awards. Rare as they were, it was always a special occasion for everyone to feel humbled and happy.
Letting his large hands clap together, Hawksley watched the crew mates walk up to receive the shinnies one by one. Leland liked the shinnies as well.
“Everyone is dressed up. It’s funny to see everyone suited.” Hawksley spoke to Lilliana.
"I think everyone looks very smart" Lilli smiled as she looked at her husband as she too applauded those who were receiving awards.
Lamia applauded as well, these ceremonies helped to bring the crew together to celebrate each other's achievements, which was good for crew morale.
When the applause had died down "Lieutenants Serina Donovan and Faith Benson, Thyra Sh'shaaqir, Mazal Falk, Paul Winchester, Matthew Thompson, Ted Silver, Leland Hawksley, and Commander Remington Dodd front and center" the Captain announced as the Colonel had left and Lucy got the next awards.
Fina had added her applause when the others got their awards. She kept herself restrained from whistling of jubilation. When she heard Faith's name called, she grinned from ear to ear, "Oh nice, Faith." she said quietly just beaming.
Blue eyes darted around the room. Maggie knew no one, but at least now, she was forcing herself to concentrate. She clapped politely as each award was given and each name announced. The shuttle pilot was unused to not being able to stand up. Sitting was boring. She perked up a bit when the next person took the stage. Pretty women always got her attention. She needed to know who her competition was.
Faith gave a little bit of a confused look a moment, having not expected that. Raising an eyebrow at Fina before standing up. Moved up next to Serina when she got up there. Going to attention.
Upon hearing his name, Dodd stood up and approached the stage. He paused at the foot of the stairs to allow all names announced before his to take their place on the stage first. He was not expecting to hear his name called so he was sort of off guard.
Lieutenant Thompson stood up straightened his uniform tunic and approached the podium, He wasn't expecting any award, Perhaps he got a new set of orders.
Paul stood handing one of the twins to Davina pulled his jacket straight and headed for the platform, he thought to himself oO this is a surprise, to say the least, Oo as he stopped in front of his Captain.
“ Oh my.” Ted stood he had not expected to be called up like this. Maybe that second cocktail had been a mistake on an empty stomach?
Leland stood up with Lilli and happily celebrated his and her friends being awarded sincere recognition of the work that they all directly involved themselves to receive such medals. Hawksley smiled at Falk, happy for the work she did and recognizing it as Hawksley clapped his large hands together.
Mazal was a great friend and Mazal deserved every bit of it! Along with each other recipient, Leland respected them all, together as a crew. Hawksley smiled at each one in gratitude.
Thyra heard her name and looked around for a second. She then walked up front and stood next to the others. She had no clue what was happening and just let things come as they came.
Once the last of the others passed, Dodd then took his place at the end of the line of crewmembers for whatever purpose the captain had to have them all on stage.
So far Alexi had not known many of the award recipients. She may have known who they were due to reading files, at least some of them, but she had not become acquainted with too many of the crew before she had been sent on the mission to rescue, or what ended up as a retrieval of the missing ambassador. Still, leaning against the rear wall slightly for a bit of support she respectfully clapped for all those who had been named. One name she was familiar with was Hawksley. She allowed herself a smile when she heard his name called and clapped just a little more enthusiastically when he received his awards. She also recognized two other names, Donovan and Falk, who had both been on that mission and she forced herself to stand a bit taller in respect to them as she clapped.
As Serina watched Paul step up to receive his awards, she suddenly realized that she too had been called up and quickly handed the other twin over to Paula who was happy at this moment that both her brother and Sister-in-law were getting awards.
Serina had a shocked look on her face as she stood and followed Paul, praying she would not trip. oO Ok what is this about? Oo she thought as she stepped next to Paul.
Mazal was a bit surprised when she heard her name called. She looked at both Patrick and Tosrol her expressive eyes a bit widened. "Okay then, wonder what is up. I'll be back though." She stood up straightening her top and strode back up to where the others were. She gave a smile towards Dodd as she passed by along with a salute. There was also a smile to the others. She gave a salute to Captain Somers as well, then took her place in the line.
