In the turbo lift on Starbase 51, Gavin leaned back against the wall, resting as his carry-on briefcase was slung to his right. Breathing outward, he grounded his body. He checked his wristwatch for the time, which was 22.21 Hours. Ross was just a few moments away from attending the Federation Medical conference of gathered surgeons, nurses, doctors, and scientists from the Station. After his talk, he would dump his briefcase at his temporary quarters and meet up with Captain Somers, his oversight commanding officer of the USS Tomcat.
While he was due to speak, Ross was losing his voice. Taking a drink of his coffee from his metal mug, Gavin swallowed and reviewed his pad of notes. After reviewing his literature, Ross read the biography that the Conference secretary crafted. He was amused.

Confident in himself but not cocky, Dr. Ross is a young visionary figure in the realm of federation medicine. He is a learned guiding light in the field of exo-biological surgical theory. Gavin integrates a doctoral approach within the Federation framework of innovative technology and advanced medical techniques. While an Ensign, he has had years of expertise pioneering groundbreaking approaches in extraterrestrial medical-surgical practice. Gavin’s Starfleet Medical career is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of conventional medicine.

Gavin began his short stay on Starbase 51, invited by the Station Medical Community to co-chair a seminar on Exo-Biological Surgical Methods. Dr. Ross is amid many extra-curricular tests at the forefront of interstellar healthcare. He aims to bridge gaps between terrestrial and celestial medical advancements afield. Ross’s work not only displays a mastery of conventional surgical principles but also embodies the spirit of innovation.

After his presentation, Gavin was due to be on the USS Themistocles as DCMO for one mission. With little preparation or notice, Gavin moved his belongings to the station for the time being.

“Hello, Dr. Ross. I am speaking at the conference.” Gavin smiled and held his large right hand outward to shake as he greeted the conference director. At the back of the large hall, Ross stood at a pair of doors, everyone seated. Murmurs in the large hall as a few hundred seated in attendance. Standing off to the side, Ross then handed the conference director his notes.

“Please. Please help me welcome our next speaker to our Medical Conference. Ensign Ross was recently promoted to Deputy Chief of Medical on the USS Tomcat, stationed on the USS Themistocles. Doctor Ross has experience with exo-microbiological surgical methods. He will be presenting An Assay on Medical Triage Afield.”

The gathering attendees stood up, all clapped, and acknowledged Dr. Ross. Gavin nodded, impressed by the conference gathering, and then went to the podium.
Smiling, he set down his briefcase and mug of coffee. He took out his medical padd of notations. Staring out ahead, Ross felt the bright glare of the light shining in his eyes. He cleared his throat and then grounded himself to the room. “Friends. Colleagues. Federation Brotheren.” Dr. Ross began the next step in his career…
